Last night, coming home from a BBq 100 miles from my house, out in Murrieta,I stopped at a fill station to fuel up, When I went to start my car, the secondary key Ive been using for the ignition broke off in the ignition, Ive been using this key, because I wanted to preserve the factory key.Well, after some initial panic set in, I got my thoughts together, and realized the key broke off in the on position !! Some young fellows, really nice, said it would be an honor to push my Ferrari so I could pop start it !! ,,After I was parked in the garage, I stallled the car to kill ignition, and was able to turn the ignition off,and remove the broken key from the ignition .After a few minutes, being elated at the fact that I got really lucky,I went to try the factory key,and now its broke!! I was able to glue the pivot part straight, I then ordered a couple off blank steel keys for the 328 on Ebay, so ill use the original to make a couple of copys at the locksmith who makes all my keys.Question, there doesnt seeem to be any factory folding keys around, if anybody knows where I can try and purchase one, please let me know, Thx Brett

I tried finding one when I first got my - no dice. Local dealer said they weren't popular because the hinge tended to break quite easily and consequently there wasn't much reason to keep/make any. I ended up getting an F50 blank, but even those seem to be gone now. Let me know if you find one.

I got a set for my 348 with a new ignition switch....not recommended unless you have a switch problem. Very expensive.

I'm told the Enzo key blank has the same channels as the 348 but I have no personal knowledge of that or if the 348 is the same blank as the 328. Try Daniel at Ricambi. Doubt he can get the folding key but he will get you something that works.

FERRARI TESTAROSSA 348 IGNITION DOOR KEY AUTHENTIC | eBay

I haven't bothered looking up the part number, but seems it's also good for the Testraossa and a couple others and of course the Mondial T, but at this price of $140+ I'd skip it.

Guess I'll store mine for now and use aftermarket keys.

Hi Lucca,

I can also confirm that the ignition keys for the TR and 348 will NOT fit the 328 or 308 cars. There is a guy on 'the bay' that is currently selling folding keys for 328/308 (search for 328 key) but they are hideously expensive ($420). He either has a large stock of old blanks or is possibly manufacturing these somehow - he's sold over a dozen in the past year. For a much lower price all of the following should work as ignition keys

  • Börkey 1328K
  • CEA F3
  • Curtis FT-46
  • Cole Nat'l F46
  • Dominion NE59
  • Errebi NE45
  • HD K
  • Hillman FT46
  • Ilco FT46
  • Ilco NE59
  • Ilco X152
  • Jet FT46
  • JMA FI-6I
  • Lotus SP28
  • Orion FAK
  • RR GT11
  • RST F244
  • Silca GT6R
  • Taylor X152

Most locksmiths should have one or more of these and can cut them on site. I got 2 spares from a locksmith here in Carlsbad for a total of $5 cut and they work perfectly. I can now 'save' the originals for posterity. The F40/F50 key from Ferrari with the black plastic head and silver horsey will also fit 308/328 cars but is close to $200 from the dealer - still too high for my taste.

Hope this helps!

Ciao,

Vincent

P.S. Sorry to hear about the loss of your dog. Keep thinking about the good times you shared together - it will help smooth out the rough spots.

I lost the key to the locking TR gas cover
I suspect I need to order a new lock and keys

Any ideas where to source it?

oh, sorry, I referred to the ignition keys, not sure on the gas cover but I found a compatible straight key at a local locksmith,

I think just shop around or borrow someone elses key if possible for a sample and go to a good locksmith.

found this (could help) http://www.keys4classics.com/html/Fer348etc.html
