Back roads near Geelong. Cruised at that speed for maybe 5 mins or so. What a car, felt the same, stability wise, as doing 100kph.
Very nice. I'll make you a deal, I'll be down under in a year (Melbourn, sp?) with an Aussie friend from Tokyo. What do you say we get that on video?

And btw blackferrari, I don't believe you work at interpol. You cannot drive as fast as you want, just because you work there :/ And it's not a James Bond lifestyle :/
If you work there, what's you're function then? and where? Cuz you don't earn so much money at interpol (only if you're corrupt) that you can buy two F50's.

:-?

I sent a private message to him, his response was less than cordial so we won't be seeing him again so you can drop it.

In '79 the national speed limit in the US was 55 mph. There was a requirement that all cars sold in the USA had to have a speedometer that only registered a maximum speed of 85 mph. On the US 308 for 1979 the speedometer only goes up to 85 mph.

So that is how fast I have had my car up to. I have had the car on the open highway with my foot to the floor in fifth gear. The cars in the distance got big real quick but I have no idea how fast I was going because the needle on the speedometer only reads to 85. Advertised top speed on the 79 308 was, I believe, 148 mph. Sadly, I cannot verify if it will do it and I really don't want the nice police officer to tell me how fast I was going.

That is still not how I want to find out my car's top speed.

As I've still only driven mine about a dozen times, I've not gone too mad yet - especially as there was oil leaking out if it for some of that time!!!

So best effort so far is only about 220kph.

My best effort on the road ever was on my ZX-7R a few years ago - 265kph - which felt absolutely insanely fast. Been a little quicker than that on the bike on the track - but it doesn't feel nearly as fast on the track as it does on the road!!

I think someone in Japan already did the F40 video thing! Anyway, I sold it in 1991, and I'm sure my 355CH does nothing near that speed!

I just use my GPS to tell me my highest speed so I don't have to look down and study the speedometer. Plus you can show it to your wife when you get home to prove that you were trying to get home to her as fast as you could;) I believe the Lamborghini Gallardo has an option for GPS which will tell you the top speed you have traveled and your 0-60 time.

Sadly, I'm not at liberty to state the fastest I've done on any road in my Ferrari. But get back to me with that in a few years when I do some test driving! 8)
