It is the first supercar before the F40, F50 and Enzo. Was available everywhere in the world as long as you had enough money.

Stop !!!

Don't find out too much about the 288GTO. You're gonna end up wanting it. Simply awesome, ... V-8 turbo charged wild but hell of a fun classic. Jimmy

Thanks

Thanks for the info, no wonder they are rare as hens teeth in the UK.
Still looks pretty amazing.

Cheers.

They were originally designed and built for a racing series that never materialized. Same basic engine block as the 308 and F40, they just hung some hair dryers on them..

Ferrari produced 272 288 GTO's. All were LHD and 20 originally were sold in the UK.
There was a 273rd "Speciale" built by Ferrari for an Ex Team Driver, Built in 1991 from original parts and painted Giallo Modena at the request of the customer.

But rumours and conjecture surround this particular car??? Not sure the truth will ever be known, except by the parties involved, But it was for sale in 2003

PS - 4 have been known to be destroyed.

Very interesting. I had never heard of this one before. Sound like a similar situation to the original Ford GT40s were they were still building "original" cars out of left over factory parts several years after it had officially been retired.
