I made up my mind. I want a 308 GTS. I prefer a carburetted version, but will consider a QV. I would really like a black example. Needs to be in very good shape, preferably with recent timing belts change. I am located in Texas, USA, but will travel for a good example.

looks very good....thanks for the lead. I am not sure how easy it is to bring it over. I know it is over 25 years old, so I should be able to import it easily. Any idea about taxes/duties? Also, an advantage would be to have the full Euro power! But here in TX, I can not get it inspected without a cat :cry:

Shipping should not be to expensive. Suggest you do a search on Tom Yang (www.tomyang.net) for a post by Yale about importing a 330GT from Holland. It has a lot of information on the process and cost. Duty should be 2.5%. For more details and help, call Dick Merritt at the DOT in Washoington DC. He is extremely helpful and a real Ferrari expert. 308 GTS vs QV

Please forgive my ignorance here...but are you saying that the Standard 308 GTS has the dual carbs and the QV does not?

Thanks in advance, I'm also trying to decide between a 308 and 328 as a second, nice weather car.

The "standard" 308 ('79 and earlier) has 2 valves per cylinder, point-type ignition and four 2bbl Weber carbs. The QV has 4 valves per cylinder, electronic ignition and fuel injection.

If you register a car as an antique in Texas do you still have to get it inspected? Also, at least in Maine, if the car did not originally come with a catalytic convertor it is not required to have one.

Buyers Guides for both the 308 & 328 are now available in the Members section. Sugggest you take a look at both to get an idea of the difference between the two models.
