Great question.

I guess it depends on the establishment - but in general the answer would be no.

To date, I've not had to make the decision though.

Yeah valet parking is safe :-?
Done it twice at the krasnapolsky hotel and the Amstel hotel in Amsterdam
Besides safe they are responsible for any damages 8)
Just when you are getting out of the car and giving the keys to someone 18 year old its not a good feeling
Afterwards waiting for your car to come up in front of the hotel makes it all worth
You don't want to receive a speeding ticket a couple of weeks later and the valet guy behind the weel, thats makes me sick
Never happened though :green:

I would have to say "yes" for the majority of people. If you drive a 250 GTO, I would say no. The whole idea of it is for people to relax and not worry about their car. If you are a worry wort, you would be better off parking the car yourself. Remember, valets see many expensive cars. Those self-righteous of you out there should know that. They treat every car as important and know the implications if they are reckless. If you are at a reputable establishment, I wouldn't hesitate to give my car to them. Plus, for a small cost, your date will be impressed and it will make things easier especaially if you are compulsively late for reservations like me.

I have valeted the ferrari 3 times ('84 308 GTS QV) and I love the feeling of pulling up in a ferrari and having kids my age and older call me "Sir." It's an awesome feeling for a 17 year old, and I've only done it at like hotels and nice restaurants. It's a very very nice feeling though when everyone sees me get out of a Ferrari and valet it. :D

Personally I agree with Bart.. I always park myself, the good news is the valets always give me the best parking in the house.

We had a guy in San Francisco a couple of years ago who Valet parked his 355 at a very upscale hotel. When he arrived back to pick up the car later that night the valet had blown up the engine on the 355. He over reved the engine from cold as he was collecting the car out of the parking garage.... Ohhhhh the pain!

I dont know in other areas of the world but my answer would be no way in LA. I had a bad time with my Lamborghin once and will never trus them again. I would rather pay for the valet and park it my self and keep the keys.

I have a valet company in Texas and I think it is safe to valet. I am not just saying that because I am in the business. Its all about the quality of the employees that you hire. If you pull up in a Ferrari most valets will give you all-star treatment. Reason being is they think they are going to recieve a nice size gratuity (1/1000 of your cars value is a decent valet tip)
Just thought I would throw that in there. Dont be afraid to valet in my neighborhood.
