I love the 348. In fact, I like the styling better than the TR. I like open top driving and the TR doesn't come in a spider version. I also think the 8 cyl would be a lot cheaper to maintain than the 12 cyl.

Not a HUGE fan of the large wheel wells on the TR. I recently have had the pleasure of driving in a 348ts Speciale (see registry) and a 348 spyder and I loved them both. They are probably less expenive to maintain.

I would like to have 12 cylinders though ...

I have read many times that the Testarossa gives you many headaches for few miles driven

I can´t tell about that because I´ve never even seen a TR

but if I could afford one, I think I would buy the Testarossa

the idea of having in my garage the car that I admire since I was a kid amazes me

I agree with stile - alpine, I love the Testarossa, and everything about it !

Its an amazing machine...

But I was told that reliability for both are not too good and pricey to maintain...but hey, a gorgeous woman is also pricey and hard to maintain !
I do have to give the 348 some credit, the center console is a whole lot nicer than the Testarossa, it has a removable roof and a smaller engine, so a smaller repair/maintenance bills and its not as wide...

Its a hard choice, I like the 348 but I love the Testarossa

I agree on the comments about the Testarossa engine. It will be interesting to see if it does achieve "Classic" status in the next 10 years.

It is to bad that they did not use the basic F355 design on the 512M.
Thats my only argument, the design. Its not ugly by any means, I just prefer the understated elegance of the 348/355 design more.

Not trying to knock the 348, but I think in the long run there will be a hard core group of Testarossa fans, not sure that the 348 will ever have the same type of long term loyal following.
I think I missed the TR craze ... not my generation.

For pure presence on the road it has to be the testarossa.
Unfortunately that is from a seeing one, not driving one, point of view. :D
A 348 makes me look, a testarossa makes my jaw drop.

t-rossa vs 348

I must say that I find the sound of a 12cyl. to be intoxicating! It produces a low grumbling, snarling sound at rest which is mesmerizing and hypnotic. At speed it screams and growls but I personally like the grumble better.
Being blessed enough to have an 8cyl. as well, I can definitely attest to the stark difference between 12 and 8. 8)

I agree. The Testarossa is a monster (the bad kind) 3 of my friends who have owned them from new mind you, thank the day they sold the car!

Yes, and I am very blessed!
Quite a thrill it was to drive her 7.5 hours from NJ back to her stable. It was somewhat nervewracking to have pulled off such a stunt right after signing the papers and never having seen the car in person until that moment.
I did arrange for a PPI the previous week so expected the car to do well. After all, the Testarossa was designed for long-distance cruising.
I don't think I will ever get to experience another similar automotive joy in my life!
Once again, I am very blessed. 8)

I prefer the 348 in looks, by quite a bit. I have seen both cars in person, and the 348 was just beautiful.

I don't know much else about the cars, but I'll have to go with the 348.
