Yesterday was my Mother-in-Law's birthday and I had to do the family thing. The whole clan was there. My Cousin-in-Law, Josh, had never ridden in a Ferrari and hinted around that he wouldn't mind going for a ride. Well, it didn't take much convincing to get me behind the wheel to give him a little spin. I ran it through the gears for him and he was impressed with the acceleration and handling. (and the comfort, the car is suprisingly comfortable and Josh is a pretty good sized fellow).
On the way back we are at a stop sign and one of those new Nissan 350Z's passes by. Nice looking car. He's got the top down and when he goes by he is giving us the once over. We pull in behind and the 2 of us are travelling down the road following a pickup truck towing a camper. I can see him checking out my car in the rear view mirror. After a while the pickup turns off and the Nissan speeds up, I speed up, then I realize the Nissan is speeding up A LOT! So I speed up a lot. It doesn't take long before we are both travelling down this winding back road at speeds far in excess of what the signs on the side are recommending. This guy is trying to lose me and I am on his tail like glue. Josh had been talking about how he likes the 350Z and he is impressed with how well it goes down the road. He says, "Wow! I had no idea that those 350Z's went so well." I look over at him and remind him that we are matching him in an antique Ferrari.
That's right folks, a 25 year old Ferrari will go head to head with the best Nissan has to offer in 2004. Not to take anything away from the 350Z, but I told Josh, "Do you realize that I paid less for my Ferrari than that guy paid for his Nissan, my car is now worth more than what I paid for it, it only costs $90 to register it, the insurance is only $200 per year and the guy with the new Nissan was checking US out."
