Hi All

I have finally bought myself a 550, after months of deliberating what model to buy and discussing various 550 topics (esp thanks to JazzyO and Boxer).

Its Red, Cream leather 23k miles, 1999T only two owners, last one for over 7 1/2 years and full main dealer service history. Its in for a service at the moment (so just lost the FFSH!), but passed the road test/ inspection with nothign else wrong than was suspected when buying it (engine mounts and a wheel bearing). So i get to drive it again in 2 weeks; counting the days..

Bought it with the assistance of Mike Wheeler.

I wasn't sure about Red in the pictures, but seeing it in the flesh in Red changed my mind on the colour and as i'm 26 it seems right as a 'younger' looking car. Don't want it to look like I'm driving my dads car!

Congratulations! great car and although a 550 is beautifull in other colours as well, red is great and it should be the colour of anyone's first Ferrari:)
(at 26, it's your first isn't it?;))

Hey Alex, great stuff! Quite an achievement, a car like that on your 26th. Don't worry about the age thing, a 550 never looks like a Dad's car when you push the throttle down!

A little word of advice, BTW: the 550 is brutal and it is very easy to lose it, especially on a wet or damp road, even with ASR on. Go easy and don't hustle the car until you are very sure what you're doing.

Enjoy it - it's going to be an awesome summer!

And agp is right - where are the pics? :)

Onno

Tifosi - Yes it was that one.

It had a full check over/ road test on monday by the garage and only things wrong with it needs are new engine mounts (575 ones being installed) and 1 new rear wheel bearing. So happy there's no horror stories.

The car is currently without wheels, having them sent away to be refurbished; so I pick the car up for good a week on Sat. Am counting the days. I will post pics after that.

I didn't really push the car when i drove it to the ferrari specialist on Sat, was too in shock about actually driving my own Ferrari. So I'm looking to get to know the car slowly and savour every moment. I will probably be waxing it (big fan of Swissol/Swissvax) every saturday and sunday!

If anyone is ever at Ascot races and want to take a look give me a shout.

Well if you fancy a run out on the 1st June it is supercar sunday at Goodwood we should be there with our 550 and the roads down from Guildford are not too shabby for the South East...

I have put an updated hi-fi in plus some larini rear boxes so you would be welcome to have a look/listen to see what you think

Have fun

I had not heard of the Goodwood event. Unfortunately I will be at Spa that weekend.

Hi Kickstart

I might try and make it down that day. I will be at Goodwood Races the day before for the horseracing, so might pop down two days in a row!

I would be interested to hear how the larini boxes sound. I should really get a new exhaust before a new stereo as my music taste is so bad

Are there different stages of Tubi for the 550, or is there only a standard rear box, then the different stages come if youdo the other sections as well?

I think ideally I would be after a higher pitch sound rather than a drone, probably when the revs are higher rather than at idle. Although the resonance heard when standing behind a 550 with a Tubi was something to behold!

I am pretty sure that tubi doesn't have any stages on exhaust for the 550. I believe that may only be Capristo.
