Sunday...

Yesterday, as it was quite dry/warm, my wife was helping her sister sort her garden out. So it was a very good time for me to escape... :green:

Decided to go for a little drive down to Maranello Sales, which is the dealership of the UK Ferrari importer. It's not actually that far from me, but for some reason, I'd never been before.

I expected a really nice showroom, dripping with Ferraris - and I wasn't disappointed!!

Outside there was a selection of 456,550 and 575s - very nice indeed.

Inside there was an extremely clean 328, a very nice 355 Berlinetta and a stack of 360s - Modenas, Spyders and Stradales.

But to be honest - it didn't blow me away. It was almost too clean - I know that sounds mad - but the place was spotless. It was almost like walking into a private collection, not a garage. The cars seemed dead.

Had a brief chat with the guy there, and he told me that they're not getting a 612 until July - which is bloody ages!!!

Anyway - popped round the corner to Talacrest (one of my favourite dealerships) to have a gaze through the window. They're closed on Sundays. Much more like it!!

The Porsche GT1 I posted a couple of weeks ago was in the front window - not sure why, but it looks HUGE!! Actually, it looks really mean too - but for £385,000 it should look pretty good!

They had a nice silver 512BB, a couple of 355s, 348, 328 in black (v nice) and a 1990 Testarossa.

As some of you will remember, that's what I spent most of last year looking for - and since I bought the 348, I've not seen one. I STILL REALLY WANT ONE!!

I absolutely love my 348 - it's an absolute riot to drive, it's so gorgeous it makes me smile every time I open the garage - but the Testarossa just makes me go weak!!! It's got such amazing presence - even standing still on the other side of a window!! I just know I'm not going to be truly satisfied until I've got one. It'll probably ruin me, financially - but I don't care - I have to have one!!! Unfortunately, my wife would divorce me if I changed it this year - so I know it'll have to wait - but as God is my witness, I'm bloody having one eventually!!!

There - I've admitted it. It's still under my skin!!! :green: [/u]

What a nice way to spend your Sunday!! :D

I've been to Maranello Concessionaires (then) but not to Talacrest. I've never seen a Porsche GT1 in the flesh, it's one car that I'd love to own.
Sounds like you had a fantastic time. You saw some pretty nice cars too, sounds good.

Ah, a TR. Fantastic looking car, just not quite as exquisite in white. Although I really believe the 512TR is the best looking evolution/version of the Testarossa design.

Well, you've set a goal for yourself, and I believe if you really do want it, you will get it. It's just a matter of how far down the road it will be when you get it.
Bazil,
Do me a favor: Go out into your driveway, pick up the door to your garage and take a peek at what's in there. Do you see it? Oh my freakin' God it is a beautiful red Ferrari 348! Wow! Who is the lucky sap that owns this baby!?! Nobody's looking, maybe you should just get behind the wheel. Hey, what do you know, the key in your pocket fits! Wait a minute - this is your car!!!! Wow! You are so lucky.

If you really want a TR then go get one. But will it make you happier than your 348?
Baz, if you need help, get some quotes for rebuilding a V12. :green:

("It's never too early to start saving for a V12 service" - old jungle saying)
Basil, get a 512TR and not a Testarossa. Every single one of my friend who had owned a Testarossa said, don't buy it.
If your wife loves you... ...she'll forgive you... ... :-?

 Hope mine does forgive me someday...!?
I have to agree with Bazil...I own a red 348 tb, but my favorite ferrari still the 512 TR...BUT, i fell to much in love with my 348...and now is too late...i ll have to own both if I really want a 512 TR....because, i can t imagine to sell my 348...

So Bazil, don t you think that you are happy enaugh with your 348....
keep which ever costs less to maintain. :eek:ha:

economies of scale my man...economies of scale....

:green:
Chaps - I'm back!!

Firstly - on Monday, I got into work, and while I'm having my first cup of tea - about 7:30am - I log into FF to check out what's been happening overnight... The miserable sods at work have blocked it!!

Then on Tuesday my home PC gives up the ghost - dead as a very dead thing!!!

So I'm finally back online... +1 PC -a small fortune!!

Anyway - you're all right, of course - I'm completely mad. But there's nothing wrong with that - look at Bart!!

The Testarossa/512TR was what I wanted in the first place, and I still want one - can't help it.

Am I satisfied with what I've got - hell yes!! But it doesn't mean I can't keep lusting after something else does it?!!! :green:

Do you not thing the guy with the F50 wants an Enzo? Of course he does!!!

That's a signal for a move right there if I ever heard one!

As for the TR - Keep on dreamin, it's what got you where you are today. (You lucky sap, I'd love to have a 348. :green: )

Thanks for putting it in perspective Matt!

Be glad for what you got, but always dream for more.
(actually, that would be a good signature motto.)

Baz, we knew it was only a matter of time until this happened after parking the 348 next to the boss's 1972 Mini! :green:

Sunday

Dear Bazil,

What i noticed many times is that women don't want us to buy our toys.
I see this many times a week happening and even my wife tried to keep me away from buying another car.
I even came home one day, told her that i bought a car witch i was looking at for some time, she didn't react to worse and i asked her if that was all she had to say to me buying this one, so she replied that since i already bought the car there was not much to argue abouth....
So i left again to this car for sale........and i bought it.

If she was angry i could have stopt her because i didn't bought it when i told her before.

Many years later on Januari 2001 she gave me the 208 GTS for my birthday and believe it or not this was the cheapest gift she ever bought..........

I deceided to buy it the day before my birthday so the next day she took an cheque, signed it and gave it to me with the words, " happy birthday, this is to pay the Ferrari"

So never give up, women can change, i have one like this and i want to keep her....
