I was curious if anyone has been wrongfully pulled over in their Ferrari. Basically, have you been pulled over without speeding and that was their reasoning?

One time on our trip to Calgary three of us (Ferrari 348 spider,Black Diablo, Red Diablo)Were stopped in a small town getting gas and eating at the local burger joint, when we came out there were two RCMP cruisers there we thought they were admiring the cars but as we approached we knew different.

Seems that a little old lady thought we were speeding like maniacs and call the RCMP on us lol. We tried to explain to the officers that she was mistaken he says.

" If you think for a second I am going to believe that you three were not speeding Hell if I owned one of these cars I would be speeding. Consider this your only warning if I here any of you three speeding again I will place a road block up and have all your cars impounded, have a nice day gentlemen."

Of course we changed our tactics separated a few miles apart and took different highways..:D:D

So basically he was only speculating we were speeding but had no definite proof so he had to let us go. But of course we were never speeding.:steeringwheel:

This was taken on our way in to the restaurant we would of taken pictures of the cruisers but he didn't seem like he was very photogenic..

Yes, the police thought the head-light was out on the F355. It was near dusk and I had just the fog lights on only. I think they just wanted to check out the car. They kept asking me if I had "trick" head-lights as they were certain the passenger light was out. I said as an Italian car it wouldn't surprise me, maybe it was just winking at them because the car knew that only 20 minutes prior they could have written a large speeding ticket. These cars do have a mind of their own.

In 2007 I was pulled over twice in the space of 10 minutes whilst driving my 550 through Tuscany. The first time they wanted to check papers (a common practice apparently), the second time they let me go after I protested I had just been stopped already. But not after they took some cell phone pics... :) It was all very friendly at both checks.

Last September, my friends and I (a 308GT4, a 328GTS, my brother in my 550 and myself in my 365BB) were taken off the Autobahn in Germany, close to Belgium. For a considerable distance we had been right on the speed limit, we were not going faster than other traffic on the road so we were confused.

They demanded to search the boot of the 550 (which they had no right to but what are you going to do?), wanted all of us to show papers, we had to explain where we came from and where we were going. The fact that couldn't quite name the accommodation was a problem for them (we hadn't done the booking and weren't quite sure). Finally they explained that the Cannonball Run or Gumball 3000 was expected to come through on the same day and because my BB had an English plate they were convinced we were part of that group. After a check of the numberplates they let us go. I'm still very angry about the boot search - completely ludicrous. We had broken no laws.

What did you have in there?

They may have mistaken you for a mass murderer with a body in the trunk or a drug dealer with several Kilo's of cocaine in there.

The police do take liberties and do whatever they want because they know that most people dare not protest, and there's always the worry that if you do they will really go to town with you and write you a ticket for every offence in the book.

I was never stopped by the Police in my 328, but that might have something to do with never using it

I have been pulled over at least 10 times.

Never been fined though and at least 3 times that I can remember it has ended with the cop wanting to sit in my car and find out about it!

It is not just the police. Once or twice a year the taxman tries to raid my specialist's premises to jot down number plates. It is amazing - they never do this in a Mercedes or BMW dealership. Just with Ferraris - it is naturally assumed you cannot afford a car like that unless you dodge your taxes or sell illegal substances (and yes, they are illegal in Holland too!).

Last year, they came to complain about a car that had not yet been registered in Holland but which they spotted. It turned out that they had been hiding in the bushes at a private track day which was organised for terminal cancer children. This particular car had travelled there on a flatbed so there was nothing illegal about using it on a private track (they were so dumb they didn't even know that) but just the thought! "Let's go and check out these Ferraris that are trying to give dying kids the day of their lives".

I get really annoyed with this kind of petty thing - it is only motivated by jealousy.

Wow, sounds like the police are pretty damn strict over there. Do you not have the right to tell a cop "no, you can't search my car."

I'll tell ya this, as a Deputy Sheriff and a car nut,,,I let ALOT of stuff slide if it's a nice car (granted that's even if I decide to try and catch up.)

Also, on the night I had an F430 for 8hrs,,I could've gone to jail several times over for the speeds I was doing.

Unlike some of the posts here, most of the Montgomery County Maryland Police are not jerks, know the law, have common sense, and respect privacy. Thank God.

Last year I got pulled over for going 100 MPH on my Murcielago Roadster. Driver`s license was expired, and the trooper wanted to tow my car. Pleaded with the guy that I was just ten minutes away from my house. It was midnight and I stopped by the rest area for fuel and just punched it for a minute and that is how I got caught. Finally just settled for the traffic ticket since I knew friends who were troopers and he let me just drive the car home.
