HELP! I need to replace the 2 electric window rocker switches for my 1973 246 GTS. Official replacement rocker switches from dealers do not work - they have 5 contact points not 4 as per the originals - can anyone help me trace original parts?

246 window switches

I was offered a pair a few months ago but very price prohibitive. I am still looking for some priced reasonably
Welcome Max.

If you have problem still, sell your 1973 246 GTS to me.

Just kidding. I love that car. I think there a warehouse in England (can't remember where) that officially keeps all the old parts for Ferrrai Spa. Try Google, maybe that will lead you to that warehouse.
Max,

What dealer sold you those? Seems they should have know this, or perhaps they told you before you bought them.

The company Stradale is referring to is the Ferrari UK importer:

Hope this helps.

PS: I'll match Stradale's offer +10%....I too love that car.

Mike at Superperformance has them.

Installed them on my '72, work like a charm.

They also are illuminated, which I'm not sure the OEM stuff was, but, they plug right in.

when you say slow, are you meaning the crawl up to the top?

This on the 3x8 series was well known in that, IIRC, the switch just switches poles and it causes a sort of huge electrical resistance. There are kits, that, when installed will make a better connection and speed up the process.

IF that is it,
THEN call one of our sponsors, RICAMBI, and talk with their staff, either Dave, or Daniel and they'll steer you to correct product....they are very good and very helpful

tell them where you came from, ferrarilife, as sometimes they offer coupons--be sure to ask, and let us know what happens

Hi

Thanks for your reply

The problem i think is the wires of mechanism are getting tight then loose. It seems to happen more when i try to put the window up. So you think the problem is an electrical surge?

thanks
Sounds like the same problem that many of the 308s and early Boxers have. I believe Pete04222 rebuilt his switches and solved the problem. Suggest you PM him to find out what he did.
Have you checked the vertical window channel around the window? I'm just guessing here but the symptoms sound like the edge of the window is "walking from side to side" causing intermittent binding. If the window channel is new or tight then it might be binding as the window rises. One solution might be to lubricate the felt in the channel.

This could also be from left-to-right cables pulling unevenly in which case the solution would be to align the two cables attach points so that they pull evenly when raising the window.

Improves electrical power & grounding.
Several owners have used these and have renarked about how they improve the window speed.
