I am having problems with the oil pressure on my 330 GTC. After the engine is at normal operating temperatures, if I am running the engine at a steady 4000 rpm, the oil pressure is at 5 kg/cm2. If I step on the gas, the oil pressure goes down to about 3 kg/cm2 for several seconds. After getting to about 4500 rpm the oil pressure goes up to 6 kg/cm2. If I return to a steady 4000 rpm, the oil pressure returns to 5 kg/cm2. If I release the gas, the oil pressure momentarily goes up to about 6 kg/cm2 for several seconds.

Normally I expect the oil pressure to go up at higher rpm and the oil pressure to go down at lower rpm. What can be wrong?

Thanks,

Enzo

Enzo, I have had a similar problem on my 330 GTS and with several other cars with the same engine type. Guess what? Just put one more quart of oil in the engine, it wont harm it. Since the oil pan has no baffles, the oil moves away from the oil pick up. If you want to get scary, make left turns FAST with engine power, and you will see the oil presure going to "0".
The oil capacity according to the manual is a little over 10 US Qts, if you are adding only 10, there is still about 1/2 Qt. more needed. I suggest adding one quart to start, and try it, nothing will be lost, if the problem persists, add one half more, and and the other half if still does it. Almost sure that one will be enough.
Let me know if it worked out, you will be owing me a draft beer. If the problem is other, I will owe you the beer.
Truly,
Pablo
