Folks,

My car is running great but won't rev past 6K in any gear (feels very much like rev limiter is preventing it) but yet there are no engine lights on. The only lights that are on and have been on for a while is the brake and ABS which I believe is a sensor. I will be tackling that shortly but am totally in the dark as to the rev limit issue.

Any thoughts?

Capt,

I had a F355 for several years and never ran into this problem. As none of the other warning lights (example: Slow Down 5-8) are on, the only thing I can think of is the Rev Limiter issue. Have you tried resetting the Bosch engine management system ?

Good luck,

Boxer

Is the EMS reset simply by disconnecting the battery? or is there something else I should do?

Thanks!

Michael, You disconnect the battery using the kill switch in the front luggage compartment. Let it sit for about 5 minutes then reconnect the power. You then need to start the car up with all the auxilary items off (lights, A/C, Stereo, etc) on flat ground and let it run/idle for at least 10 minutes. During this time the ECU reloads all the parameters etc. After that I would then normal turn it back off, let it sit for a few minutes, start it up and go for a drive. Good luck.

355 problem

I post a reply on it about F348 and think it is the same problem for the 355. I have too a F355 and have a little problem like your but not always. it started like this with my 348.
it was due to oil coming from the camshaft seals (often dammaged) and the oil was going on the "flywheel" not shure of the name. it is near the timing belt, on the crankshaft. there are speed sensor on it sending infos to the ecu. it was only durty and when cleaned everything was ok.
try it ! it doesnt cost anything...
look at the topic: belt in situ the photo belt 3 show it.
