Hello Everyone,

We're proud to announce that the new site look and feel has been completed for FerrariLife.com! Our designers and software engineers have been hard at work on this for several months. It's designed to modernize the site, make it easier to use, and to make it more attractive to new members and guests that visit .

The forum software we use, vBulletin, by default is not designed to be friendly to the eyes or to look modern. We went down to the nuts and bolts of the forum software and templates, and have done a ground up approach. There are several things you will notice now that the new design is live.

1) The site should be significantly faster.

We have applied every modern technique to speed up page load and tested with all modern browsers. We want the forum to be extremely fast and easy to use.

2) The site will work much better in mobile and tablet views

We've started applying responsive design, and have designed and tested against android and iPhone devices, Android tablets, and iPads. If you are sitting at your desk or on your couch, or just on your phone, the site will work much better than it did before, and load fast. We are still working on improving the experience even further in the months to come, but we wanted to launch this as quickly as we could.

3) The homepage is bright, crisp and clean.

We wanted the first page users saw to look beautiful, so that when a new guest arrives and is debating whether to join FerrariLife.com, they see a beautiful doorway, and they walk right in.

As a forum member you can choose to use the new design (which is on by default) or you can go back to the old design. We ask that you give it a chance and see if you like it. Like anything new, it will be unfamiliar at first, but we suspect that the speed difference will make you want to use this new one. If you do decide to switch back, the link is at the bottom left of each forum page, you pull down and select the theme called "FerrariLife.com Classic".

4) Garages will be featured on the site

You can show off your Ferrari, You can post pictures in your garage and share it with others. Make sure you post up some images to share with the community at the link below.

Ferrari Life - Garages

5) Users will be able to register with Facebook, Twitter or Google+

6) The side bar can be hidden in your user options.

Click on my profile / user cp at the top right.

- click on edit your details on the left.
- Look for Show Sidebar on Forum Pages under Additional Information.
- Click disable and save.

7) Another new great feature is the @Mention user plugin. You can tag members by simply using the @ symbol.

8) Drag and Drop image uploader

We hope you enjoy it, and if you have any questions on the design, please let us know, feedback is appreciated.

If there are any issues you see. Post them up here and we will get them worked out.

Thanks,
-Your FerrariLife.com Team.

At first glance I like it!

Best regards,

Robert
Good News thanks!

I really like it - much better look and I like that it uses the full screen width.

One suggestion would be to section the sub forums a little more per car model. Also, having the classifieds be just another section that is very visible would be a big help.
We can work on tweaking the forum section moving forward. Let me get this site all buttoned up with the team and then we can tweak settings like that no problem.

Great work!

I have seen the updates on Mclaren Life this should help all around.

Thanks!
Yup, My team did that one also. Great site.

Also just launched some new Maz sites for new models also. Also looking for mods if interested.

I just noticed people's names are not being shown under their avatar? Is this now a setting?
We can add that back, do you prefer first name?

Maybe omit "home page" results from latest posts or give us the option

Did not know AG bought the place

Good luck

I liked seeing a first name unless the user preferred to show full name. IMHO, it seems more personal & less 'internety' to see a post from a real, named person. I look forward to figuring this thing out.

Drag and drop does not work with Windows 10 on my PC, but since you left in the old method of doing attachments, not a big deal.

Hi,
i prefered the before layout .... this is identical to the italian forum "ilferrarista.it", for sure use the same platform software .. and then for sure not developed by Flife ....
change software in principal is nice ... but as more of us i have a full life .... and now over the time to write i need also a time to learn....
One question, wasn't possible make faster the before layout instead of modify all? ....
Best Regards

I preferred the old layout, but can adapt.....

I also prefer seeing people's first names.

Where is the "Mark Forums Read" button?

Hi John,

Above they said they can add the names back.

Apparently the skin change did not fix the retention of reading posts. (knowing that you have already read them when you revisit)

Just too many things going on with all the over sell ads. Kind of insults my intelligence with their relevancy. I can get that on FB
Maybe the kid who cuts my grass may like all the cool stuff but not for me at this stage in life.

As a multiple forum owner I get it but within reason they are here to make money #1, it just distracts me from thought and enthusiasm.

Sorry folks

:)

That's Windows 10. There's a couple of bugs here and there for Windows 10 users on Edge (and sometimes other browsers), but I think that's out of our hands for now.

Tim, I'm not seeing a single add?
Maybe because your a sponsor?

I am piled over with them on the right column and on top.

It goes against my core values to pay not see ads. I'm happy to donate for something good but to be forced too is a line I don't care to cross.
I canceled my cable TV for similar reasons.

Ferrari RSS feed on the main page simply replicates my normal morning read so seeing it listed again to me is redundant.

Just too much of the same old same old I need original content to survive.

Very distracting, Just not feeling the Ferrari vibe. :wink4:
