Well, here's the Brescia update, we were not selected for the 2017 Mille Miglia - oh, sadness! But still alive, healthy, not in jail and, as Taz occasionally notes, when Judith and I awakened this morning, an hour out of kilter due to summer time beginning (summer? are you kidding? air temp here at 7AM was -14 C.), no one was shooting at us so all is good.

Today is my dad's 120th birthday - Happy Birthday Dad!

And today is the 31st anniversary of the delivery to la Comtesse de Picciotto of my new blu sera/beige 412
Hello Seth,
your fahter is 120th ?? .. wow
I would like to give him my Happy Birthday
I'm sorry that you was not selected for the 2017 Mille Miglia .....

That's very cool Fabio, I wonder why the difference ?
Hello Bill,
I normally parked on my garage the Maranello without insert the alarm .
On my old F550 the first time I thought that the battery was dead, the second time that i discovered the dead battery, i did a check with my brother, that is an electronic specialist, and we discovered an big electric absorption (400mA) , after checked on WSM and on it was printed the "normal electric absorption" about 30-50 mA !
My 550 absorbed 10 times much, after further checks we found the problem was on the alarm system, if we disconnect the absorbtion go down.
We changed one components (i not remember which) but no change ...
the more easy solution was to disconnect the battery every time by means of the switch that is near the battery, problems solved for ever ....
This solution is ok for the 550 because have the throttle bodies moved by steel wire rope, for the 575 (and all the car that have the electric throttle bodies), every time that you disconeect the battery end riconnect is necessary time for the ECU for the calibration of them.
This effect is clearly noticeable at the engine start after battery reconnection :
- F550 every time the engine have a perfect idle
- F575 have not perfect idle for around 10 min.

Result: fortunately my 575 HGTC have low electric absorption and also after 3 weeks she staring without problems, however she will be parked for over 3 weeks i connect to a battery charge made by my brother.

I have a CTEK battery monitor for my 550 and 355. With the quick disconnect, it's no headache and either car starts with a punch no problem. :)
Ciao Nin,

i use a battery charger made by my brother ... but CTEK battery monitor is so good :)

Similar to Fabio I can easily get through two weeks out of my now 7 year old Braille battery without a charge and likely still close to a month. The 575 has only been on a charger for extended down periods.

Fabio good to see Little Linda following in your enthusiasm for the Red car!

I just hit a milestone.... Loved every mile :)
Ciao Bill,

yes is a great milestone, but those engines are good for many km ... for me for over 200K ....

In Italy on 2011 there was on selling one F575, from a seller that i know, with 173.000 km, engine did not drink oil ...

Best regards

No, Fabio, though I wish he were still with us. He was born 12 March 1897, passed in April 1977, though I still celebrated his birthday. It is still possible we might visit in Italia in May. If we do, for certain I advise and we meet. :)

Fabio- My 575M also goes a month or so without a starting problem. Has not been on a battery tender for about 7 years. But she gets driven 2-5 times a week except during vacations.

Hello my Friends,
this year it was time to do the cam belt service on i 575, i 'm able to to that but i decided to go to my local dealer for the stamp on the service book and also because i know very well the mechanic and i trust him.

Followings the works list that they did:
- cam belts service
- replacing water pump belt & AC belt
- engine oil service
- replacing gearbox oil
- replacing of the F1 system fluid of the tank
- bonding of the front lights gaskets (installed new two years ago but original adhesive it disconnected after 1 year )
- removal and installing of my headers for check the state after 4 years
- check of the extremeplus treatment on the paint
- cleaning of the all interior cabin, leather and moquettes
- sticky repair of all components
- steering wheel cleaning
- washing of the car and wheels
- air conditioning check
- replacing rubber gasket of the windscreen water pump
- replacing battery because after 4 years it was not so good
- replacing of the two gas springs of the engine hood

Now is perfect, i'm very happy of the result, is like i purchased a new car ...

Best at all

Fabio

Awesome... I always enjoy having services done on my car !

Here it is at the dealer waiting to have my technician check it out, they laugh at me because every month when I drive to Vegas I make them check everything :)

In between scheduled services!

But with 83,000 miles I think it's an excellent idea !

Bill- My cars are always over-maintained, too. Seem to last a long time that way. Good that you got a good set of valve guides.

Hello Bill,

Like many here, including you, we believe there's no such thing as over-maintenance, it's simply good practice to perform on-going preventative maintenance.

What colour code is your 550 Maranello? It looks very similar to my 456M, Blu Midnight PPG 136644. Very curious to know.

Also, a few photos of the interior would be nice to see :grin4:

Regards,
Gianni

What's the story behind the centre armrest, Bill?

I had designed and had it built to my specs and it turned out just great.. I do long trips I have found the armrest to be quite comfortable.
It was expensive to make but very well worth it, several of the members had them made
(of coarse in their color combo) and we're very happy with it.
It's also a glovebox I'll show you a picture.

Enjoy :)
