Thursday, I needed to go to an office to drop off some papers. It is near the Ferrari dealership. Ryan, a young buck in my office, drives a Nissan RXS or something. It is a very nice car and quick. I thought I could give him a ride in my beast and maybe let him drive it a bit.

After dropping off the papers, I had him drive to the dealership. Like anyone else, the first time you drive any car, you do not know the braking, steering, or acceleration of it. He was very careful with it and only made a couple of errors. I than decided to take him to lunch. He said he knew of a nice place and I said go for it.

He got off the freeway on Edinger heading east. At the stop light on Redhill, he said, “This is the border between Tustin and Irvine. Neither city cops patrols it. I just look at him. I did not know what he was up too. The light turned green.

Well, now, I now know what it feels like to go thru the gears. As we hit 140 mph, I suggested we slow down. At 145 mph he did. He then put it in neutral and coasted for a while. He never made it into 6th. Say, the beast does roll a long way.

At lunch, I told him going that fast in the city is jail time. He looked at me and said, “Bart, this is a well known race strip. Many of us use it at night or during the day.”

Great and the police know nothing about it. Humm. I think I will stay away from that section for a while.

One cannot make the driver nervous at high speeds. That is dangerous for all.

Bart,

I have never driven a Ferrari, but I once drove a 93 Toyota MR2 Turbo and can say...what a ride, I took it to 150mph, and got totally scared...the front end was almost lifting off the ground, then the engine cut out...thought I had blown it but was the rev limiter, I wasn't exactly looking at the RPM but did notice the speed, but I was alone....will never do that again with a Toyota....

No, that is incorrect. He had two gears to go: fifth & sixth. He quit before he shifted out of fourth.

At 150 mph, this car is rock solid. It is only at 75% speed.

Bart,

Out of curiosity, I have a few questions. Did he drive in the middle of the two lanes to keep the car steady or was he in the right lane ? At that speed how is the steering wheel, loose or tight and last question, does the nose seem like it wants to lift and launch or does it drop and hug the road ?

My MR2 was quick but not like a Ferrari, but over 120mph the steering got loose and the front end seemed to float (no long curves allowed) I have a feeling the 328 will be the same as my MR2...

and have you ever tested 100% or it´s potential??

I took everything I could out of my "beast" already 8) but it wasn´t that much, of course

When I drove my thing at 150 mph on Thunder Road, the car was like driving a sled at 50 mph. It was scary because it was not scary. I had total control.

At a 100% according to EVO of Huntington Beach, I would be going 203 to 205 mph. My engine is loose at 57,000 miles. My rocks are not that big. I do hope to go to the California Speedway sometime and hit 180 or 190.

I NEVER drive fast near other people. I may die but will not take anyone with me.

12 cylinders or walk

When I reached the top speed of the stile (210 km/h), I was driving at 3:30 am, so the streets were empty...

Here in Brazil it´s impossible to drive a regular car in a race track. Maybe if I owned a Ferrari I would be able to do it, but not with my dear stile...

I really hope you get to drive your beast in a race track! It must be really amazing!

Like stile - alpine, I did this on a highway stretch where you could see for miles, I was alone in the car as well as on the highway at 4 am

I would never of done it with even one car ahead...Murphy's law, what can happen...will !

I went through all 5 gears and once I reached max speed, I immediately let it coast back to the posted limit.

stile - alpine,

Your quote at the bottom of your replies says "Serious to crack the walls, sharps to break the glasswares" What does that mean ?

well, Fiat says that the stile is supposed to reach 240km/h, but I really don´t think that´s possible, unless you drive it in a downhill... And I wasn´t able to go faster because of a radar

but 210km/h was pretty good, I don´t plan on doing that again any time soon

my signature means "basses that crack walls, sharps that break glasswares" in Portuguese, and I use it because I spent a few thousands R$ on speakers, subwoofers and stuff like that...
