I participated in a charity track day on Sunday for the Little Havens Childrens Hospice in the UK. For a GBP 25 donation, you got a several lap ride in a supercar on the track. Great day all around and could not have been for a better cause. Over 30 Ferraris, Lambos, Ford GT40s, an Ariel Atom, and a Porsche Carrera GT participated. By the end of the day I believe well over 300 rides were given and certainly all the passengers I had were highly enthusiastic.

We started the day by meeting in central London at the crack of dawn for a tunnel run out of the city and up to the track. Fantastic noise hearing a line of Ferraris go cruising through tunnels. Blue skies were the norm and the temperature was in the high 60's. Perfect driving conditions. Once out of London, we meet up with a second group and the multi colored Ferrari formation continued to grow as we rolled down the highway. After a short stop for breakfast, it was on to the track and time to get down to work. Upon arrival, we were given the opportunity to take a few "warm up, learn the track" laps on our own. As I had never driven on a banked track, I has glad to have the opportunity to sort out the new challenge on my own before having to do it with someone sitting next to me. It is really not much different than any other track, figure out the right line, and you are set.

Shortly thereafter, it was time to line up at the passenger pick up location. The support team and marshalling were excellent and everything ran smoothly throughout the day. Seeing the smiles on the faces as people got back out of the cars made the whole event more than worthwhile.

Personally, the highlights were a ride in the Ariel Atom and seeing the 275 GTS being driven with vigor down the straight.

actually too narrow for me, don't know if I'd have the guts to drive a Ferrari there!

did you take the 360 there?

very nice pictures, the 360 Spider with CS details looks nice, the Scuderias also look amazing!

The 430 Scuderias were very impressive. Amazingly quick cars. Definitely much faster than the 360 CS.

I drove the 360 Modena.

actually I have to say a big thank you to Boxer -
as I took my F355 on the track and didnt' realize what exactly they meat by a "banked" track until I was ( what felt like) at 90 deg angle!!!

oh boy I was scared the first time!!!! and I must admit I only managed a max speed of around 55 on the bends

then Boxer took me in his 360 and showed me how it should be done!!!

My pleasure. It was great to see you developing more confidence ( and quite a bit more speed) thoughout the day.
