First off, like you said Barry, those Fords and others were drawing in COLD air directly from cut-outs above the engine cover/lid. I'm afraid in the 308's case, there is that body-work between the grills that would hamper air-flow and reflect heat down to the carbs.
But like you said Pete, you could take a sawz-all to the deck lid... :lol:
Pete, please check the height of the filters before ordering/purchasing. The 308's airbox is quite a low profile, meaning that there probably isn't much room under the lid.
That problem could be solved just by buying a GT4, it lends itself well to lidless driving...
