My name Is Joe and I'm 23. I reside In central FL area. My question Is this: before I go and buy A Ferrari theres a problem I'm 6'3 300+ lbs, Is this going to be a problem due to how small the cockpits are? I don't want to waste the dealers time when I go or If I even go at all and I'm a little bit embarssed seeing my self tryin to fit In a 360. Anyhelp will be greatful.
Thank you for your time

Hi Joseph - welcome to the site!

If you're thinking of visiting the Ferrari dealer next to the Harley dealer, in South Orlando, then get yourself down there and try them for size.

I was on holiday there (during Hurricane Charlie) and dropped in there for a look around. They were really welcoming, really freindly.

Had a good chat with them about my cars, and they had plenty of time to chat.

There's really no substitute for trying them for size. What one person finds comfortable, another may not - so you've got to have a go at some point.

Welcome Joseph. :)

Would you consider a 550 Maranello? It's easier o get in and out and it would fit your stature better.

Welcome Joe,

... or possibly even better a Barchetta, as that gives you unlimited headroom.

Heck you've got the perfect excuse for trying-out EVERY car in the showroom! The salesmen should be fine, after all they're trying to make you into a happy customer. I don't think your height will be a problem, but some model's seats may be on the tight side.

That's the car he has to avoid at all cost. It's the most impractical car Ferrari had ever produced. You have to get out of the car to put on the hood and you'd need two persons to do it!! When the canvas top is on you're advised strongly not to exceed 60mph. How does a Ferrari feel at 60mph? That's why there are so many unsold units in the dealers showroom around the world. In Australia alone there must be at least 6 unsold units lying around gathering dust in the dealers' warehouse. One of my friends in Brisbane has 2 unsold units!

I think Joe's problem is more like getting in and out as much as getting comfortable in the car. The 360 is low and difficult to get in for someone so big. The 550 is more like a "saloon" and it's much easier to get in and out.

Well thank you for the ideas. I'll keep the 550 Maranello in mind. I invented something and working on getting the loan for the patent. We have a patent lawyer and all. Soon as the idea sells or however this works out I'll be looking to buy. But right now I wana look at the market for one of these fine motocars. How about the Enzo, is that really small? Too small for me maybe? I have heard there like 1.1 million is this true? If so that maybe outta my price range by like 800k.

I hope everything works out for you but, knowing a few inventors myself, don't put any deposits down yet. Chickens before they hatch and all that.

Don't forget Robert Kearns the man who invented the intermittent windshield wiper got screwed out of his money by the auto manufacturers. It wasn't until the 1990s that he actually won his case in court. Kearns eventually won court settlements of $10.2 million from Ford and $11.5 from Chrysler. . A good deal of his life and money was eaten up by court cost though. :evil
