I think they plan to raise it again to 70mph....but it's all political...It has to do with enviromental concerns, and the police being able to write more tickets. Since, hardly anybody drives at the posted speeds.
The 80 kmph Freeway zone in Rotterdam is a pain in the ass, but there is 24-hours speed traps, so you have to oblige. It is done to reduce air pollution for the residential area next to the freeway. Being also very close to the airport, I wonder when they going to reduce that as well. they already prohibited the night flights. Well, if you are going to complain, why are you going to live there ???
That's my view on the A13 speed limit.
Niels from Rotterdam who is glad he lives on the other side.
Between I believe 23.00 eves until 06.00 mornings no flights are allowed. But Rotterdam Airport is just a small airport. I heard when there was a strike in Amsterdam, two 747s were relocated to Rotterdam. Would have loved to see it, since normally, these big ones do not land on Rotterdam!
I hate that 80 kmph zone in Rotterdam, i have to drive past it if i wanna go to Zandvoort.
And here in Belgium we have that too, that night flights are prohibited.
That all because off the people complaining.
Personally i believe that the airport was there first, then some people buy a house there REALLY cheap and then they start complaining that they can't sleep cuz of the noise from the planes
Where I live, we have a toll way, which is not used very much. The CHP (California Highway Patrol) don’t go there often because no one else is there. It is about 12 – 15 miles and wide open. Recently, I was passed by a 360 and I was going about 120 mph in my 550.
It is where the dealers in Newport test-drive their cars. Great fun and it is pretty with views of the Pacific Ocean.
