Hi folks,

My apologies for being away but I'm finally out of Hawaii and hanging out in Colonial Heights, VA. Well, after a long wait, I finally drove our 308. I felt like RB when he won the German GP. OK, maybe not THAT emotional but it was my day. What an awesome machine. More than I ever expected; the whistle of the Webers, the subtle bass of the Tubi, the tightness and stiffness of the chassis. Amazing. Drove for a good hour on I-95. Wow. I'm a lucky guy.

I was wondering when you'd be back. I figured you were pretty busy with the move and all.

So the long wait is over and you finally got to drive the car!!! Congrats!! I bet you had a big smile plastered on your face the whole hour you spent on I-95!

Tifoso_boy,

So, you're a wrencher now, huh?? I'm not worthy! I'm not worthy! :D
If you have not experienced the thrill of just one drive, find a way. I will never forget it and I'm sure you'll be the same. It was an amazing experience. Thank you much.

Pete,

A big smile...my jaw bones were honestly sore after the hour. Yeah, we happy. I could've driven to Miami and back. I was surprised, among other things, how comfortable the car was. At 6' 1", I had plenty of room. It was the first time I was intimidated by the size and height of a Honda Accord! Some guys at the storage initially assumed it was a kit car before we pulled the cover from the car. Considering what babies Jen and I look like, I can't blame them. I need to catch up with you about your car; how's it running, how often are you running it, how HOT has the wx been, etc. It's great to be back. I have a couple months worth of pay-checks coming from the DoD so I'm actively seeking employment right now! Take care and I hope to hear from you soon.

My car is running great. You remember I had the problem with it backfiring, well I cleaned the plugs, repaired one spark plug wire and disabled the low speed points. Runs great now only it idles high. About 1000 rpm (I am guessing because the Tach doesn't work). I am going to live with the high idle until I put the car up for the winter and then pull the distributors and change the points. I Just recently changed the oil and filter, replaced the oil pressure sending unit, the speedometer sending unit and adjusted the hand brake. Now that the speedometer works I was able to check the mileage and I am getting 16 mpg. Pretty good I think.

Wx has been really hot, the A/C in the car doesn't work so I take the truck whenever the temp outside is above 90°. I still have been driving the car enough that I have got a great tan going on! Come on October!!

So Dane,
Lets see, it is summertime, your wife is working, you are not currently working, you have a couple of months worth of paychecks coming, you have a Ferrari. Sounds like there's gonna be some cruzin' goin' on!

Since you have just recently become a civilian, I imagine you will be taking a few weeks off before looking for work in earnest. Tip - don't take the Ferrari to any interviews. They might not think they can afford you!!!

Pete,

Yes, unemployed with pay (weird..) at least for a couple of months. However, I've been on the job hunt for a good three months. I've past two interviews with Pfizer and Merck but am waiting for further face-to-faces; it's a long process which makes me nervous as my pay only goes through the first part of October. This has led me to applying for alternate positions with other companies.

So, if anybody needs their driveway shoveled or lawn mowed, give me a hollar and I may be able to accomodate... :)

DJ,

That'll be $1500 USD. One USD per square meter. Sound fair? Probably not, but I'd thought I'd try. :)
