Hey all, first time on these forums. I signed up earlier this afternoon, looks like you guys have a lot of information. I have a 1984 Ferrari 308 GTS QV and I had a quick question. I need to get a new radio in there because the stock one sucks ass. So I was wondering if any of you have any suggestions on good stereos that will fit in the car. Preferrably with MP3 playback, but not really necessary. Thanks. Azheman

well yeah... but I was just wondering because i'm sure that not all stereos will fit in there, looks kinda small. So I was just wondering if anyone else has done a new radio and has any suggestions on good ones.

another newbie question...
you guys keep saying S/N.. what is that? and how do i find out what mine is?
It's the serial number of the car - it's at the end of the chassis number.

Welcome to the forum too!

hey welcome to the forum
the s/n is your chassis number, there are 2 fast ways to check it
either the telaio plate in the engine bay, or the vin plate on top of your steering colum

say, do you really need a stereo in your ferrari?? isn't the engine music enough?

and
well
eeuuhhmmm
i just gotta ask it
17 & a ferrari??

 That's some trusting guy to give his baby to a kid. Does he have anymore he's willing to garage, say, in Kansas? Cause I'm 17 and need a Ferrari. :eek:ha:

That's kind of cool, 17 and driving a Ferrari. About the s/n. Indeed that is chassis number. In your case the last 5 numbers of the VIN, which can be found on the sterring column of the car or in the engine bay. You would really help the register here if you give us the following things:

VIN, assembly number, (in enginebay) color exteriour/interiour, build date (on the driversside door jam)

Offcourse first ask the owner. This is no vital info of the car, it is often used to spot cars. This way we try to track every Ferrari made.

i have to say that having a cool ICE system is pretty much worthless in a Ferrari, especially if you fitted a sports exhaust system in it (Tubi, Challenge..etc). You can barely hear your passenger, much less Kenny G or any other soothing music. The glorious engine is soulful enough believe you me! :)

I replaced the original Sony with a Nakamichi with CD player (6 CDs) built into the small space of the radio/CD. It's amzing. No modifications needed, just a straight swop.

Then you can change for better but same sized speakers. This is much easier to find and easier to fit. Try GS auto in front of KAH Motors at Jalan 222. I had mide done there.

I would imagine that most stereos would fit. I would recommend Pioneer as it is a quality brand that won't break your bank. If the radio is too small for the space, they will install a resin covering that will fill the space around the radio. It looks fine in my friends car in which this was done with a Pioneer.
