Hi,
I am a spanish student working on a presentation about Italian Automotive Industry. For the Ferrari chapter I would like to talk about the recent (last 20 years or so) evolution in the management team of the Company, from the last days of Enzo, the crisis in the late 80´s and the reinassance with Montezemolo in the 90´s. I want to talk about their teams of people, their ideas, their successes and failures, etc... to give a good picture.
Does anyone have a good idea/suggestion where to look for this kind of info? There are lots of articles and stuff they dont go much in dept and dont talk about others managers apart from Enzo and Montezemolo.
Does anyone knows a good book?A good article?Website or personal knowledge?
Thanks a lot guys

welcome

Bandi,
Let me be the first to welcome you to the forum. A few places to look are www.ferrari.com and Fiat (the current owner of Ferrari). Your best bet is to look for books at the library. I have one book titled Ferrari by Lehbrink which gives a story of the company from the day it began up to 1995. Another thing you might want to think about is are you going to concentrate on Ferrari the road division or their racing team. While they are both one and the same they also have different paths that are intertwined together. It sounds like it will be an interesting paper. When I have the time I'll thumb through my book and see if it has a works cited or bibliography which will give you a good list of books to look into.

I have a book "Jeremy Clarkson on Ferrari" and it has a chapter on Ferrari and Maserati Company history. I'll read it and let you now if there's anything useful in it.
BTW: when you finish your paper, please send us a copy.

preface

Here is an excert from a preface written by Montezemolo in my book. "...as for this book, it impressed me above all with the quality of the text, the accuracy of the information and the clairty of the illustrations."

The first chapeter is titled "Ferrari - The Man der Mann I'homme el hombre" and of course is about Enzo's beginning and starting the company. It gives a pretty good history of the beginning.

The second chapeter is "Ferrari - The marque" which goes into more depth of the company. Here are some excerts. ...While some thought the death of Enzo Ferrari....would deminish the value of his creations, they were wrong. In fact quite the opposite was true....

After reading the book more in depth and re-reading your post I don't think this book will help. It has excellent information on the concept of all the cars from 70-90 but it doesn't talk much about the management side of things.

Guys,
thanks a lot for doing that research. I am working from my side, still not much luck. I have contacted one person in Ferrari through Luca Ciferri, a great guy, reporter from Automotive News Europe that covers Ferrari. Lets wait and see. In the meantime, any ideas about where to look are welcome.
Thanks again
Al
