I'm not familar with 355 systems, but does the beeping occur when the top is operational and being lowered? And in your case, it continues to beep, but does not lower, correct?
Check simple items first, like fuses and relays. The top mechanism obviously works (that is, if your back-up switch is electronic, like the main switch).
