Given that I was foolish when younger (3 years ago), I made an extended trip (~400miles) from deep in North Carolina to Baltimore MD. Total trip time, 2 hours, 45 minutes including fuel stop. Avg speed, 125+ I think. top speed hit was 147mph.
The ONLY reason I was driving that fast on I95 north was because the highway was literally empty. It was as if God had emptied that road for our drive. We passed 3-4 cars the entire drive and it was 11am on a Friday.

Translation=195mph.

In someone else's car with him driving...the speedometer stopped reading at 199mph and gave an error reading as he was still accelerating. (It was a digital dash.) His estimate, after we got back to his place, using the video he filmed and timing the passing mile maker signs was that we hit 214mph.
In my car...only 105mph in a 65mph zone; and...I have the ticket to prove it. :evil:

170km/h In a volkswagen Golf maybe I could heve reached 180, but I was not sure if this would be good for my golf 4 1.6 litres!!
But I had great fun, the whole car started to shake and felt he did not have lots of grip anymore. I got lousy tyres under my golf!!!! :nuts:

It was 1984 and I was driving my 73 Datsun 240Z with a set of Webbers on the Dallas Toll road at about 3:30am. Speed limit was 55mph and there was no one on the road. Speedo hit 140mph. What the actual speed was I couldn't tell you. That was WAAAYYY fast back then. An air dam, headlight covers, koni shocks, Suspension Technique springs (1.5 in drop) and sway bars kept it rock solid.

furthermore there is a difference between a 1.9TDI and a standard 1.6.
