I`ve always been fascinated by private number plates. I had an MG ( initials ) plate for a few years & MKE ( Mike ) for 18+ years. The MKE plate was transferred 6 times ( £480 ) onto different cars I owned.
With the 360 F1, I hit a slight mental dilemma whether to go for an F1 MKE or a more appropriate number to the car. I choose the latter, even though it was twice the price.

Hi

I am new to this forum, I am a Ferrari fan but sadly not an owner, I do know of a nice registration plate available in the uk for a 360 owner F360MRA, so if you own a Ferrari 360 and are called MR A this could look superb

Let me know if intrested

A car get a license number that never change in Sweden, like ABC 123. The last digit tell which month the car must do the safety inspection. Most Ferrari's have 4, 5 or 6 so they can be checked in the summer. Before 1972 we had a manually selected system with 1 or 2 letters for each region and 1 to 5 digits. For example the old King had A1 and A6. Well anyway, it's possible to "rent" a personal plate for $900 for each 5 year period, with up to 7 letters/numbers but certain combinations are not allowed. Also GTB 308 is not OK but 308 GTB is. Sometime a weird combination slip thru the crack, a friend had a car with DWL 666 but that plate will not be recycled for another vehicle. Most people select their own name or their business name. We are also running out of number combinations, only Y and Z first letter have not yet been used, because small 50cc mopeds, snowmobiles, quads, farm tractors, small trailers now must have a license plate number. Old plates are reused after 10 years but they have not decided how to add more combinations. Most likely is a fourth digit. Rgds///Thomas

I needed a plate for the 360 spider so had a quick look and was surprised to find there were a few F12 plates available. So it will do for now but you know where I'm heading! The story behind the other part is probably best explained verbally:crowngrin:

Cheers

We cant choose the plate number:cry:, it's picked by a computer based on what's available. My 308 registred 2003 first letter is a U while my daily driver registred 2010 first letter is a C. Rent a personal plate is the only choise. They only allow names or something harmless, no funky stuff. Rgds///Thomas

We've had a bit of discussion about this before (BTW Sandy, not everyone on this forum is English or knows what the DVLA is).

I think, as Archie mentioned, something relating to the car is great. People who want their own name on their car, well, there is a Dutch saying that only fools and idiots write their names on walls and windows (it rhymes in Dutch). I think that's true - it's nice if you want the plate to say something about the concept, but not so nice if you want it say something you can't say or prove yourself.

I still think that 74 BB would be an awesome plate for my Boxer. It's simple, and describes the car. It also has nothing to do with me, so that should help in resale :D

Onno
I don't think mthat my name will fit onto a UK plate:thumbsup: Why would you need the number plate to denote what model the car is? surely that's self evident:wall:
