A buddy of mine who works on one of my company's other rigs put this little slide show together. It's pretty cool!

so that's what you get to play around with

you know the downside of your job is that if you arrive too late in the morning you can't say that you where stuck in traffic :wink:

I was hoping for a cool vid that explained the exact workings. Bummer, but hey, GnR kicks ass :D

Do you know a digital vid that explains those rigs you work on? Because the pics were nice, but they don't explain a lot to me.

Thanks for posting those pics! I have seen them before. Sometime I'll have to tell you about when I was on a rig that broke loose from its moorings during a typhoon off the coast of Vietnam. And we were low on fuel!

That's when I'd be heading for the chopper! (I'm a real chicken :oops: )

Nope, the weather was too rough for helicopters. And all our chopper pilots were Brits who were used to flying in the North Sea. If those guys say its too bad to fly, its bad.

I have been to Australia, Western Australia to be exact. We drilled a well for WAPET (Western Australia Petroleum) off the coast of Barrow Island. I was the "Offshore Safety Advisor" and rotated between the rig and the office in Perth.
