My Diablo engine project is coming along....slowly but surely. I decided to take a small break and do some things to my Ferrari 512 TR.
I recently had the windows tinted and it looks great. But the stereo in car was crap. Whoever did the stereo install in this car should be shot. It was a horrible job and luckily I could reverse everything that was done, but it would require me to take everything apart to see how it was wired. I ended up re wiring the whole doors and everything. I went with a high end pro series Boston Acoustics set up and man it sounds great. The stereo install is just a simple one. I didn't want anything fancy, but just enough to sound good. I also dynomatted my doors which makes the doors sound even more solid. I went with two JL audio amps and a Eclipse CD7100 system with Nav and Ipod controller.
A week later my throw out bearing went bad and locked up. Everytime you pushed in the clutch the car sounded like a pissed off cat that got it's tail stepped on. I was pretty pissed about it since I had not driven it that much so I got the part I needed and was going to get someone else to do it locally, but I wanted to make sure it was done right with care so I did it myself. Saved myself about $1500-$2000 in labor cost also! It all came out well and the car runs awesome now. I still plan on taking the engine out next year to clean it up to my specs. My car only has 17K miles on it, but I can already see some cool things I want to do to it. I am not going to do any mods on the engine. I had to drop the exhaust off the car (tubi) and found out my cats were hollowed out which was fine by me. (For off road use of course!) Doing the clutch change on this car will be a sinch! Alot better than the Diablo.
