Hi Dirk and all of you,

I really enjoyed that event! Especially since I had the unique chance to follow a 500 Mondial on the road, while going to the event. The looks, the sound even smelling the car was great. You should have seen the faces of other people in the traffic. And it was kind of funny to see the driver use his arms as indicator (or was he trying to keep the flies out of his mouth....?)

Here you can watch some more pics, also of several other events:

Enjoy,

Too many people on their cellphones in SUVs who are looking for the right directions on a big map...
It is scary to see that some of those SUVs have bumpers that have the same height as your head when you drive a sportscar...

Very nice pics

Driving such a car at the open roads reminds me of the 50's. The importer of Jaguar in Belgium, drove his Jag D-type in the 50's also to the race. But he was most of the time pretty tired of driving the D-type when he arrived at the race.

A couple of weeks ago Bruce Meyer drove his 625 TRC also at the open roads to an event.

I hope the owner will drive the 500 Mondial more to events. I really would like to see that.

how about our Ferrari Importer Jacques Swaters, he drove an 500 F2 (formule 1 car) from Modena to Spa Francorchamps on the open roads, so in those days no freeway, and ofcourse he didn't had headlights

That's a great story too, Dirk. The 500 F2 didn't even had a licence plate.

When Jacques Swaters left Modena with the 500 F2, Enzo Ferrari (himself) asked at someone from Ferrari the following:
"Who is that guy in the 500 F2?"
Someone replied: "That's Jacques Swaters, he's going to drive the 500 F2 to Belgium."
And Enzo Ferrari replied: "Here at Ferrari we are crazy, but that guy there is the craziest"

Oh, what is it great to be a Belgian

What a compliment! :)
