One of my mates came over on Sunday, as I'd promised to take his kids out for a ride.

He brought his camcorder with him - so we went for a little blast too...

As soon as he gives me a copy, and if it's not too huge, I'll post it in the video section.

You'll be able to see lots of interesting things, including (I hope) the police car we went screaming past with him holding the camcorder up at the window!!! Oops!!

Although there's definitely a law against doing the speed we were doing, I'm not actually sure there's anything wrong with filming from the passenger seat!!!

As soon as he spotted it he moved the camera out of sight - but I'm hoping you'll still be able to see it!!

I'm actually quite childishly excited!!!

you know what have been the funny part?
if the cops had pulled you over for speeding then you could have watched the tape at the police station, they would loved have seeing themself on tape and afterwards they could use to determine the speed for the ticket :green: :wink:

Right - I've got the video - but with it comes a bit of a problem...

It's 2.7GB!! Now I know Andrew's very generous with bandwidth but...

So - today's competition is this:

What's the best way to shrink a 2.7GB avi down to a more managable size?!!

And also - is there a freeware video editor out there that anyone can recommend?

A little more work before upload me thinks!! :green:

Andrew - I've cut it to 11 mins 35 secs, taken the size down to 320 x 240 and converted it to wmv format - but that's only shrunk it down to 43Mb - can't get it much smaller than that without the quality being really awful. Is that still too big to post?

You can cut the video in small pieces. But I like the idea of the DVD hehe, well to edit the video you can use the VirtualDub and the TMPGenc. Here are the URls

Members can post movies of 200 MB to their profile. Will take a while though... Start the upload at night and when you wake up it should be ready

If you have a fast connection for uploads it shoudl only take 30 minutes or so.

We're getting a bit closer though - the preview is now in the video section - hooray!!!

I just have to upload the full video to the members videos - that could take a while... :green:
