I know this is a bad idea -- but I just wanted to know if it is OK or not.

For a perfectly running 308, if the timing belt is due because of time (> 5 years since timing belt change) but only few miles added, would it be possible to just mark the Cam pulley positions and crank positions, then replacing the tensioners/belts to the same position "without" removing the cylinder head covers? This assumes that while the belts are out, the crank will not be rotated/moved at all.
