Hi, I'm a newbie on this forum - and I'm about to buy my first Ferrari, so I hope you'll help me here :p

I'm in love with the 360 - and there happens to be one with a color combination that I like in the city :D (IMHO some people mess up the interior with their color selections and stitchings) - it's a 2000 F1 model, 27000 km, good service record and the owner seems to know (and respect) his car.
(yes, I know that the F430 is coming along, but with the waiting lists (I'm too cheap to buy an early slot ;-) - and I actually like the 360's look better (the headlights for instance))

I've of course searched the net, found this great forum - and read up on the postings and the buyer's guide. All in all I felt that I'd done my research when I read another posting about buying a 355:

thinking of buying a 355 - http://www.ferrariforum.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=4179

- which mentions that there are done 'tweaks' between production years (and in contrast to BMW, Porsche, etc isn't public told) - so is this the case with the 360 as well? - and if so, anyone know of the changes between production years?

And thanks for a great forum!

Dennis,

Yes there were tweaks for the 360. Off the top my head I believe one tweak was the computer that controls the shifts in the F1 was updated. The topic has been covered and I will try to post a link to the topic when I find it.

Thanks for the kind words regarding this site, I hope you enjoy it!

first, thanks for the fast feedback!

Stradale, I did find a thread where you mention drastic changes:

http://www.ferrariforum.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=3778

- and mentions that you'll try to post details your dealter's Service Manager. Did you get the detailed information? - if so, and if you posted the information, do you have a link to the thread? :p

okay - a software update doesn't sound too intimidating - but Stradale's comments on updated parts was what triggered my concern.

- it would be great if these 'intimate details' somehow were linked from the model overview (and mentioned in the otherwise nice buyer's guides)

(or maybe I'm the only person having trouble finding those previous threads  )

First important "replacement" item is the "cam variator". Actully it's the whole camshaft. The early models ('99 and '00) have experienced these "variators" shearing from the main camshaft. But it's a factory recall item so the early model owners should have got them changed. Check on that.

Then there's the A-arm on the front suspension. The bush on early models tend to "wear out" fast and cause slight vibration. The design on the latter models were changed slightly and they're better.

The F1 ECU were upgraded from year '02 onwards. It a slight improvement though.

okay - thank you (all) for answering (and I apologize if the topic is covered extensively in another thread somewhere - but I really couldn't find the information)

- I'll pay special attention to the recall (if it's been taken care of) and check the service records on the front suspension - it better be in order so I can bring the baby home! :D

I brought her home friday last week - she's a dream to drive (of course :D)

I know that some (Stradale?) might not consider the color 'the real color' - but I love the Grigio Alloy color for the Modena (well, not that I've seen a Modena in a color I didn't like! - and before 'meeting her' I were set on yellow - but that changed!)

Anyway, here's a quick shot
