I have just joined this group. Thanks for having this forum. OK, I have a desire to buy a Ferrari, bought a Maserati Coupe F1, it is wonderful. So I thought I would sell the old Porsche turbo and get a used Ferrari. The 308s seem to be a good way to start into this. I have found a 1980 308 GTSi, very nice, all records, etc. My dealer, Ferrari of Washington, tells me that it maybe too underpowered for me. I wish to hear from the loyal 308 injected owners about what I will enjoy.

If you have been driving the Porsche Turbo and the Maserati Coupe, the 308 will be hopelessly underpowered. I suggest you look at the 348. I really do.

As the driver of a 308GTS QV i agree with Stradale, the 308 is an underpowered dog compared to modern cars. A 348 or, better still, 355 or 360 would be more appropriate. As mentioned, the 308 is 20-25 years old and technology has moved forward quite a bit. Still, the 308 is visually stunning IMHO and can handle great IF you redo the suspension with better shocks/bushings and uprate the springs to 300 front/250 rear or better. Still.. you are left with the lowish HP and torque, yet a better handling car.
