All,

Just enjoyed a great weekend with approx 700 kms in my F355, from mountainroads to 250 km/h on the Autobahn.

Anyway, was wondering what you guys think is the best sounding Ferrari ever.

Of course, I vote for my F355 with sportexhaust, it sounds just amaaaaazing. :p

Would be even better if you could upload a soundsample of your Ferrari.

Let's hear some noise!

Cheers

Erik

It's hard to argue with an opened up 355 at 7k RPM but I have a certain fondness for my buddy's Testarossa with Tubi exhaust. Man! the sound of 12!
Good to hear you had a great time in your 355 this weekend. I was wondering if you had some pics (outside-pics?) of her besides the garage-pics you posted earlier on this forum.

The best sounding Ferrari? Well, I think this is the 360 Modena for me. The first time I heard a 360 was in Milan, near the big cathedral. This beautifull red 360 was waiting for a stoplight and I stood on the sidewalk a couple of meters up the road. Then when the light turned green she speeded up through the street and the engine was screaming :p and you could hear a very loud echo, like in a tunnel. It gave me goose flesh, it was a beautifull experience. :green:

:work:
The 250 GT SWB at Concours de Elegance last year sounded pretty nice :)
Erik,
The best sounding Ferrari is the one you are driving!

Right now, I'd have to say mine is the best! My exhaust is stock so it is not loud or overbearing but has the distinctive Ferrari V-8 sound. What I really love about the sound of my car is when you open up all 8 barrels in the carburettors. 4 Weber 2-bbls running wide open throttle through a Ferrari V-8 at high RPMs. You just don't get that sound with fuel injection.

I think Spasso will agree with me on this one!
Haven't heard them all, sorry can't say for sure. I've only heard some 355's, a 348, some 360's and a couple of Testarossa's. Of those I have heard, it would be the 360 screaming away from Ferrari of Denver. 8)
nothing beats a 12cylinder carburreted Ferrari such as a Daytona. The modern stuff just sound too tinny
An Enzo going at 300kph. I had that rare privilege to listen to that V12 singing. :) Next to it is the sound of the Challenge Stradale on full song!!!

Oh yes! I roll the passenger window down so I can hear the intake noise. I am running an ANSA exhaust (no cats) Not as loud as a Tubi which is actually a good thing when making those longer drives to and from Canada. Even then the drone gets to me. It would be nice if I could remove the resonators once in a while for those blasts around town.

I heard the 365 GTC/4 has the classic V12 sound, some say one of the best!
I think there is no such thing as `best sounding`, but the old 12 cylinder racers from the sixties and seventies are very hard to beat on sound... :)
I'm with spasso on this one - just about...

The most fabulous sound I've heard come out of any car was a 512M that I followed for a couple of miles just before Xmas. He obviously had some kind of open exhaust fitted, and it sounded absolutely electrifying!!
...electrifiying................yeah, thats it.
355 with tubi, 360 with tubi, 360 cs with tubi, 575 with tubi, honestly the best ferrari sound ever isn't even a ferrari, it's the tubi exhaust system! LOL! Best sounding 'car' ever? Carrera GT. WITHOUT Tubi. LOL.
Last time I was at Laguna Seca there was a race car driver with his 360 challenge and I had the opportunity to follow him through some of the turns and boy did it sound fantastic, especially on the throttle blips. I guess when I drive my car I can not get the whole experience as would a by standard, but I have heard 360 fitted with the Tubi opened up on the track and they sound wonderful. It has a high pich screem coupled with the roar that an Enzo does not have. I heard the Enzo on the streight at Sear Point and I have to admit, a 360 sounds better.
I would have to cast my vote for the 360 Challenge Stradale. Perhaps I can upload a video for you folks which demonstrates the quality of the exhaust note. The 360 Modena V8 is tuned to be exquisitely euphonious and they improved upon this exhaust note with the Challenge Stradale. Now, the loudest car out there is an F50 fitted with a Tubi exhaust. For those who need to get looks, that is the car for you to drive. You may get taken downtown with the police for disturbing the peace though.
yes the360 CS is one of the best sounding cars on the track
once you hear 5 of those together on the track, then you instantly start to drool
also the 348 Barchetta ( a one of built on a crashed 348) is simply AMAZINGLY loud.
but hey, that one is only allowed on the track

also now that i have stoud behind a 550 GTC & 575 GTC during it's pitstops and hearing it blast by on the track, i'm even more in love with them, the sound of the 360 GTC really doesn't cut it then anymore
My vote would be for the 512 BB. Hard to beat the sound of 12 cylinders with Weber Carbs at the redline. Boxer 42
I have a recording made on board a Ferrari Formula One car in 1966, making one lap at Monza, driven by Mike Parkes. It was used in making the movie "Grand Prix". I'll try to get it into a form compatible with posting here. Meanwhile, here's a pix of the car:
