Hi,

as i told you before, i went on holiday to India for 2 weeks (some roads there could be fun in a F car...), then to belgium for business, so here are finally the long promised pictures of my dirty 550.
I love it like that (looks like it drove a billion miles crushing some continents on the way and eating dead whatever stood in the way...).
Anyway, i had to clean it after that, since the car stayed unused for quite an amount of time. Also the front was especially dirty as i did some high speed overtaking of a truck spreading salt on the highway....

Did you say you drove the 550 in India? :-?

Hi Gougoul,

It would be great if you could give me some hints about the insurance : which company offers the best rate ? Can I find something for less than 3700 Swiss francs per year ?

Moreover, I will probably buy the car in private sale. So, where should I go for the services ? Do you know the Garage Donati (www.garagedonati.ch) near of Vevey ? Is it reliable ?

Thanks a lot !

Hints & Tips

For insurance, from what i heard, you could get the best deals with Winterthur and La Vaudoise (through a Ferrari dealer).
I pay more than that actually, but i wanted to get rid of some premiums to pay if the car is stolen outside of a garage, or if i damage the car.
Do you talk about Casco total amounts or Casco partiel ?
If it's Total, i guess you speak about the lower range of prices you can fetch here...but again, it depends a lot on the place you license the car. If can get the car licensed in Fribourg Luzern etc, you should get some real great deals (a friend had his 360 licensed there and paid nothing for a top coverage)
For the sale itself, did you had the car checked by some specialist ? I would do it (actually i wouldn't dare to buy such a car from a private guy, but would only buy from F-cars with power warranty). Also, try to see if you could get some power warranty on the car, it could help, you never know.
I sadly don't know them, but you should ask another member "ze_shark", i guess he's near the Lausanne area.

Hi Paco,
3700CHF is pretty good, I'd be surprised if you would find less elsewhere for the same coverage. Specifying theft coverage in Switzerland only earns a small rebate, but what's the point of a 550 if you can't travel abroad with it ...
I would not buy from a private owner, it's not worth the risk unless you get a very significant rebate vs market prices. Dealerships are stuffed with 550s at low prices, find one you like and get a 1y Ferrari Power warranty on it. This will give you a year to work the gremlins out if any.
PM me about Donati.
Cheers, JC

Coming back from Las Vegas a couple of weeks ago, I ran into the butterflies in the desert. We have had a lot of rain and the butterflies exploded. They were eating the yellow flowers. When they died on my car, the yellow pollen was everywhere. I had to stop at a gas station just to clear the windows. The car was a polka-dotted silver and yellow.
