Folks,

Last night's post-flight inspection revealed a crack in my air box boot (rubber). Car ran fine but I still want to replace. ItalianCarParts has one listed for $129 USD. Bummer. Any ideas for alternate sites or ideas to repair? It's a knife type slice about 2 1/2" to 3" in length. Thanks.

This may sound cheezy but it works better than you would think. You can geta a good quality of thin electrical tape [Scotch} and after butting the split ends together, wrap the entire hose with several layers of the tape. It is amazing how good it looks and how long it lasts. The flexible tape will conform to the bellows and the thing will look and function as new.

Edward,

You're the man. I knew I could get some expert advice here. I'm on my way to Lowe's this morning. Thank you very much. How's the Corvette? I know you're pretty darn excited about it. I saw what looked like a 2003 two days ago. It was black and I didn't have the presence of mind to notice if it was a ZO6 or not. One way or the other, it was awesome...Thanks again. I'll let you know how it goes.

Bob,

Welcome to the site. Whether it's $65 or $129, it's a bit steep, huh?? Nature of the beast, though.

Ed,

I owe you either $64 or $124. The tape worked awesome and looks much better than I thought it would. Great call. Thank you very much.

Barry and Magoo,

Thank you both for the input. Barry, I've never seen that web-site before but will be sure to use it in the future. Thanks again, guys.
