Well, if you dont really care about the look of what goes down there, have it fixed then take it to a place that does those spray in bedliners for trucks. They can custom mix colors and get very close to matching then spray it on just the front lower part. You would have to look close to tell it is there oncedone but it would be very strong and not chip or scratch.
After my front bumper is fixed on my Grand Am, I will be having that done to it.
