Shortly I will be going down under to see the first Formula One race of the year. My brother-in-law lives in Melbourne. He tells me I can have dinner with some people from Williams-BMW. Last time, he rode in the third car of this in the 2003 race. Now he wants me to eat a meal with THEM. They want to go faster than my Ferrari. That is not good but bad.

My question to this forum: Should I break bread with the enemy of Ferrari?

If you think about it, the enemy of Ferrari is a friend to us all. Without the competition, would Ferrari have progressed to the point it has? I don't think so.

By all means, have dinner with them. While you are there, be sure to thank them for making Ferrari work harder to stay at the pinnacle of automotive development.

Racing should be competition on the track, and friends outside the track. I know that doesn't really work in the modern F1 due to the fierce competition and all, but they are just people who love racing as much as the people of Ferrari.

I think this would be a great opportunity to discuss racing, cars, strategy, driver personalities, and rental car mayhem with like minded people. While I am more keyed into motorcycle racing than cars, an evening out with any race team is always entertaining.
Put aside the the Ferrari passion, and replace it with RACING, and you will have a blast.
