Thanks guys.

Courtesy of my detailer, who backed my Land Rover into my Dino, she's going in for a bare metal repaint this fall. (Hard to blend new with old on 30 year old paint.) I'll post pix as it progresses.

Now who pays for that? Is the detailer fully insured or does it come out of your pocket?

I know mistakes happen, but the guy's job is to make a car look its absolute best. I mean what do you say? "Great job on the Rover. The Dino could use a little additional attention though." I bet he felt incredibly bad.

Dave,

I'm really sorry to hear about that. Very unfortunate to have that happen. I finally saw a Dino with the flares we had discussed. Last week there was a Dino with the flares and Daytona seats at the Palo Alto concorso. I will upload photos later.

Who is doing the body work on the car?

Sorry for the long delay between posts, I sort of lost track of it.

Car came home April '06. Looking great!

$24K total bill, insurance paid $15K, would have paid more if I had the detailer arrexted for stealing the Land Rover. After all, he didn't have permission to drive it.

I didn't think that was a reasonable thing to do to a 17 year old kid, so I picked up the balance. He went to college instead of jail. :D

Car got a 97 point platinum at the late Spring FCA PA-NJ regional concours.

Here are a few pictures. If you guys are interested I can post a step by step photo essay.

No, you did the right thing. Shit happens and you gave the kid a break. He made a mistake, it was a bummer but no point in making him pay for it the rest of his life.
