In a ranking of the most horsepower for a modern street car from Ferrari the 612 was #2 right behind the Enzo. More power than the F50, first I see a 612 this week and begin to fall in love with it, now I learn this. Could this be a sign of things to come?

I also find that interesting. If you look at the 575Ms engine size you will see it is the same size as the 612. Is this a typo or is the true?

If it is true why does the 612 put out more power and doesn't the 612 weight more than the 575M?

The 575m has less horesepower than the 612. The engine is 5748cc in both.
I don't know why, or the weight of the 612, though.

It is interesting. One reason would be the weight. At the moment the weight isn't a field in the data. I will add this later this week and begin populating it.

I'm guessing we will find the 612 to be lighter?

Ferrari 612 Scaglietti:
Weight lb (kg): 4055 (1840)

Ferrari 575M Marenello:
Weight lb (kg): 3814 (1730)

So, the weight of the Scaglietti is more. What makes it more powerful?

Wow! Heavier and more power. Probably the engine is newer so Ferrari managed to squeeze more juice from it this time around.

I don't believe it has been solved. Only the weight issue has been addressed. I don't think momo's explanation satisfies me. Logical but there has to be more to it.

the 612 is more heavier because the whole car is a lot bigger. And yes, the engine could have more power with a few minor changes
