Ferrari manual gearbox models and pricing

Gianni...Right now eBay alone has ten 550s on offer, not a single one asking $200K or more. The asking prices range from $199,899 down to $108,500 for a '97 giallo modena/nero with 45,606 miles. Why are those 550s not selling? The 'market' of 18 months ago is not the 'market' today. You want a three-pedal Maranello? Now is the time to buy. Go see one of those dealers. I'll bet you can negotiate a VERY attractive price.
Hello Seth,

I agree that the Ferrari manual gearbox models have taken on a life onto their own...and in the end, the market place will decide their price. When the 575 SuperAmerica increased by 100% within a 6-month period, it quickly became out of my budget, so I simply started to search for other models.

Eventually, I discovered that the lowest priced 550s are in Japan. They are much lower than US and European prices, mainly because the high Japanese annual road tax for V12s makes them less desirable to own. On the other hand, the V8s are higher priced in Japan than the US and Europe (i.e., their road tax is much lower).

So I went to Japan and bought a 550, with the help of a local agent, and of course, Jimmy. It's now undergoing a Ferrari Classiche Certification at a local Ferrari dealership and it'll be delivered to me very soon. Can't wait to get behind the wheel and start to bang gears!

Regards,
Gianni

Hello Jimmy,

Not knowing much about the 288 GTO, your post here caught my imagination and I read each of the threads in the 288 GTO Supercar section. I probably replied in the wrong thread, but I did read them all. Thanks again for sharing your Ferrari knowledge and experience here.
