I stopped by the local dealership today. In their showroom was a red 575 GTC. It was the first time I have seen one. It looked very nasty. Maybe, just maybe the factory is getting back into road racing.

Ferrari of Orange County. It did not have many if any decals. It was not new as the exhaust did show signs on use.

They're already competing in the FIA GT serie, the 'privateer teams' that run the 575GTCs are supported by the factory. But this will be short-lived because next year Maserati will make a full assault on the FIA GT series and Ferrari will take a back seat.

not only in the FIA-GT also in the European Endurance Series (www.lmes.net) john bosch's team Barron-Connor Racing has 2 575 GTC's they also drove at the 24 Hours of Le Mans, that was his car that had the brakes on fire, and also during the 12 Hours of Sebring

and i'm a bit affraid what the MC12 will do to the FIA-GT next year, will it be another series destroying car like with the Porsche GT1 & Mercedes-Benz CLK-GTR?

I agree Dirk. A purpose-build race car is not in the spirit of the FIA GT. Yes Maserati did comply with the rules of the series but they will only open the doors again for Porsche and Mercedes to do "specials" for the series and that will drive away the privateers, They are the ones supporting the series and if they think there is no point to compete with the factory specials, then the series will die like before.

yes, my point exactelly, Maser has already reached the criteria for the rules, they already have sold 25 roadcars, and next year they will sell another 25 roadcars, of the scheduled 25 race cars 12 are already sold.
So it should be very cool for me next year since i'll be going to a big part of the championship
this year i'll go to the Spa 24 Hours next month where i can finally see the Lambo GTR in action then, and maybe Oschersleben if it's possible.
and the lambo that's a car that i would want to see more, based on a road car, that's the way it should be. the thing is fast and has very good potential, and i would love to see Aston enter next year aswell, they will be racing their DB9 under development from ProDrive the same guys that made the 550 GTC :D
so it should be very interesting seeing all those cars appear on the track but first and more often on the road
not the other way around like Maser is doing now.
first develop a racecar and then tune it down for road use, that's too big of an advantage

I don't watch much racing. Where can I find all the channels for racing? I would love to see the high speed action. The 575 GTC is a racer on the track? It could probable smoke Mercedes and Lamborghini.

If you got cable, then its Speed Channel. They show a buttload of Nascar though, but sometimes they show good racing. If you have satellite...well I can't help you :p , but there is probably several racing channels.

THanks for the links, Dirk!

Speed is the only one that carries F1 coverage here in the states, and that's the main thing I watch it for. Sometimes they have other good programming on too though. And you should be able to get it with satellite. What provider do you have?
