550 Checklist

Hi guys,

i currently have a Maserati Spyder F1, and i explore to change it for a 550 Maranello.
IMO, the Maranello is the greatest Ferrari, it's the most elegant yet somehow discreet.
Anyway, are there things to take of when looking for a used car ?
How reliable are they ?
How long lasts a clutch ?

Let me know guys, Thanks in advance, Pierre.

Pierre,

Welcome to the site. The 550 is very reliable with few problems. One of our members here has one with over 40,000 miles and still going strong. The clutch shouldn't be an issue either as it will be a 6 speed manual and not the F1 gear box which means less chance of heat damage.

Be sure to have a used car inspected by a mechanic as he will find things you don't. If the owner kept good records you shouldn't need to worry so much, if the owner did not keep records this may be a cause for concern.

There is also a nice Maserati site with useful info on your car at: www.maseratiforum.net

Regards,
Andrew
