Me too. XWX is the only way to go IMHO. I have not come across anything else that works or looks quite right.
All the best. Sean
XWX tyres are the best for a BB, if you require more grip at the back-end you can adjust the camber a little more negative.

Flatter tyres require new settings of the complete suspension (springs, shockabsorbers, line up, tyre pressure)

The new XWXs are a big improvement over the original ones, which were a lot like art erasers and wore very quickly. My first set was on a 69 911S. The new ones have better grip and wear much better. They have learned a few things since the XWXs came out 40 or so years ago. About the only thing in common between the new and old ones are the shape and tread pattern.

Onno- Affirmative. Even on a 2400 lb 911S, my first set lasted only 6000 miles, and most of that was highway mileage. Same for the Dino 246 GT, about 6000 miles per set and the Daytona was about the same. The new ones are much, much better.

When they first started with tread wear ratings the XWX was already an old tire. It had a rating of 60. It was the only tire I had ever seen under 100. A Michelin PS2 is 220 and over 300 is commonplace. I have a 330 here with 1994 XWX's rated at 100. I think the new ones are around 160.

When BB's were delivered new, the handling was tricky. The back could unexpectedly step aside, also caused by the relatively high center of gravity. Due to the new compound on the XWX that problem is solved. My specialist also puts a little more negative camber at the back wheels.

Affirmative, the Boxers were inflicted with both weight distribution oversteer and roll oversteer caused by the engine sitting over the transaxle. Nice to know the better tires have largely cured that.

Age is worth keeping an eye on the ages of these tyres. Michelin are very good the tyres we have in stock are very fresh. the fronts were made in the 13th week of 2015 and the rears were 39th week of 2014. these are small batch tyres particularly the rears so keeping them that fresh is good going.

you can buy them here. shipping is very reasonable Ferrari 512BB tires

I would encourage you to stick with the correct tyres. These tyres are actually W rated which is 170mph

Hi

I have just had fresh deliveries of tyres in for you chaps. the 240/55VR415 TRX has a date code of 4215 and so does the 215/70VR15 XWX. These are all available on the Ferrari 512BB | Longstone Tyres web page.

The other news which is not quite so relevant to you chaps is that in the near future Pirelli will be making a new 215/70VR15 Cinturato CN12 I wonder if anyone knows if these tyres were ever fitted by Ferrari to any of the BB cars?
