Does anyone know how or whether the 456M immobilizer (which may be the same as the 550) can be set so that the unlock or disarm button on the remote does NOT have to be pressed before the starter can be activated. I am looking for a "valet" mode but the instructions seem quite clear that it cannot be disarmed except with the number sequence input by key turns. After which presumably the alarm and immobilizer are permanently "off" and (again presumably) have to be reactivated with the key turn sequence????

Another part of the same question is what is the difference between the red remote and the black ones? Perhaps the red one can switch off the immobilizer and not the black ones? My red one has disappeared hence the question.

...and the answer is - you must have a red remote in order to program the alarm. These can only be purchased from the dealer who has to program it to the car's system. With a red remote you can program your own black ones. But without the red one the alarm stays in the last mode unless you use the key routine as detailed in the manual.
