I think it is easier since the car will stay more rigid, and therefore won't need any extra strengthening. I do not know about regulation, but maybe a comvertible conversion gives more problems with the law than a GTS?
I believe you still need to strengthen the wind-shield/screen. In a coupe there is a support bar going across the top just above the door. But on GTS they don't have the bar.
