Am I crazy or did the sound of my 456 GT's exhaust suddenly change? I have read on this forum about a solenoid that can divert the exhaust, is mine maybe permanently diverted? My 348 seemed to have the same issue, but it was right after a $12,000 service that it was MUCH louder. Maybe the diverter on that car was stuck before it got to the dealer. Is there any way to manually control this device? Does it exist on the 456?

It is an electronic device in my understanding so I'm not sure how to control it. I've never seen software available for laptops, PDAs for Ferraris but I'm sure they exist (my brother uses this on his car, non-Ferrari).

Yes I believe your 456 has the sensor. Here is a list of parts for your car and you'll find they list the part:

I'm sorry I can't give you more, I'm not sure if this is what is causing the problem but I do hope this helps a bit.

You might have stumbled on a sneaky little serviceman's trick - give the customer back a car with a louder exhaust & he/she thinks that it goes so much faster!! Brilliant idea!!
