Love these models!

But, the first thing I'd do is replace this hose with the crimp in it... looks like someone used a straight hose to do the job of a dual angle one... someones asking to be left by the side of the road.

Wow, I never would have caught that in a picture. Very impressive.

It comes from making a lot of mistakes and compromises on the cars I've worked on!

In all reality that little crimp won't have too much effect on coolant flow. But, the areas opposite where the hose is crimped will be stretched and will the section that'll fail prematurely. My guess is it's a hose that's no longer made and as it's probably a garage queen and not driven that regularly they just decided to make a compromise and keep an eye on it. Perfectly acceptable for that application. But, if you’re going to be driving the car a lot I'd say you’d need to make a fix.

You can buy Flex hose at almost any auto parts shop:

The other option would be to buy 2 45deg hoses angle one up and one down then connect them with an aluminum tube. That's a very small space though and I'm not sure you could do it.

My choice would be the Gates Green Stripe Vulco-Flex® hose for this application.
