360 vs. 550

Me, I just got my first real car in my lifetime, a 550. I talked to and listened to many Ferrari people today. I discovered the different between the 550 and the 360. The 360 is a big go-kart for driving on a track. The 550 is a GT which I think means I get to drive it on the Southern California Freeways for hours on end. No tight turns at 20 mph but great sweeping turns at speed. Not small streets built the horses of yesteryear but crowded lanes of speed for tomorrow.

Someone today told me the 360 is faster off the line. I have yet to go thought the gears to red line in sixth (199 mph). I wonder if the 360 will still be there?

At least my car does not over heat at top end like many a V-8 & all flat 6s.

The 360 gets better mileage than the worst car according to the EPA in my country. Gee wiz. I carry more fuel and I care not about gas mileage.

Of course in a 360, one must never go far from home. Never overnight with a mate. I do like to change my underwear daily.

He checked the top speeds from the cars. And the 550 maranello is faster then the 360 modena. A 550 has a top speed of 199 mph. and 360 183mph. If I get more money and my driverslicence. i would buy 360 because I find it nicer then 550.
Just my two cents:

A 550 is a car that is very traditional. That is what really appeals to me. The long, sexy front end full of an Alfa Romeo inspired V-12. It is a true, modern day grand touring car.

A 360 is a race car for the road. Rear-engine says it all to me. Striking to the eye. Very hot.

I relate them to women. A 550 is Sophia Loren; beautiful. A 360 is Claudia Schiffer; hot.

Forza,

   I like the comparistation Dane, that's a good one

The 550 is a big GT car for relax driving
and the 360 is a more aggresive sporty car
Now you can compare models side by side on this site. Check this out

I'm really excited about this new addition. Its my favorite part of the site outside the forum!
Andrew,

Great call. It is nice to see the cars lined up next to another. Super idea. 8)

Ah yes, the classical comparison to gorgeous woman  ...But, why not substitute Claudia for an italian babe....like Monica Bellucci or Manuela Arcuri  :green:
T-boy,

Beg my ignorance but I'm not familiar with those two. I'll do a search for them on the web.

Monica Belluci is very hot, don't know the other one.
Well if she is hot and has long brown/dark hair, i'm pretty sure that i will like her  :green:
They are both hot blooded italian goddesses..... :green: mmmm...yummy
Someone said the 550 is for relaxed driving and the 360 is for aggessive sporty driving ... well, true up to a point. However, owning a 550 and having driven both models hard, I can say that one can push a 550 aggessively to very exciting limits while also going touring in a 360.
Both are nice. But a 550 Barchetta Pininfarina is more special... 8)
The 550 is VERY underated for it's dynamic qualities. It is far more forgiving than the 360 Modena which IMO makes it more an even more exciting drive than the V8.
You can actually slide it around which I think constititutes a more exciting drive than something with razor-sharp turn in but little or no warning of impending breakaway like the 360.

The V12 engine is SENSATIONAL - and delivers massive power ALL THE TIME - downshifiting is hardly a necessity. The interior is absolutely wonderful - the 360 cannot compare in the slightest - just getting in is an event - the 575M IMO has the most beautifl interior of any car in the world.

Its look are not radical but classy and elegant and it turns all the heads you could possibly want. It's for this reason that I think it looks better and will age better than the 360 M.

Finally (if you care) it's that litlle bit more exclusive - seen a little less often - just adding to the feeling of specialness. With used values as low as they are there can be no contest. The 550 is a winner on all counts.

I think people are forgetting what a wonderful car the 360 Modena is but yes, I agree, the Maranello is a finer car.

Well I don't completely agree, but I must say it does have a fine interior...

I'd take it like this though...

Black exterior too... like this...

19" Pininfarina designed wheels...

F1 system...

Perfect car... what more could you ask for? Besides a new Testarossa, California, and 308. :green: 8)

Enzo?? :green:
What is that little orange button just behind the gill slits? A turn signal or what? A 550 does not have it.

I think manu has great taste in cars. He observably knows a great deal about Ferrari and is very intelligent.

LMAO

:D
i'm not sure that i understand "gill slit"??

I think he means the side vents in the front fenders of the Maranello.

Those orange 'buttons' are sidemarkers/turn signals.....
