I think i have a couple of problems with my newly acquired 360 spider. under full throttle acceleration and higher revs and while doing a quick gear change the vehicle on most occasions will not connect second gear, only when the revs drop and i connect second gear gently the gear lever will go into second. the second issue is a tickety sound coming from behind my ears from the engine. this is only noticeable when the roof is down. i took it back to the supplying ferrari main dealer and he told me that the tickity sound is from the butterfly and that its normal but if i wanted they could change it but that means taking the manifold off and its very time consuming $$$$. the second gear problem they claim is the bushes on the gear linkages they did mess with the bushes and supposedly tightened them temporarily until they could schedule my car in for the repairs but that seemed to make the problem worse. I decided to go to a local ferrari specialist for a second opinion, and he claimed that i should change the butterfly because it might have worked itself loose and that there is a danger that it might drop in ''somewhere'' and cause engine damage he put his finger under the left side manifold and held something with his finger and that did stop the sound. regarding the gearchange issue he reckons that i should start by changing the bushes because thats the cheapest option and then we will see from there if the problem is not cured.
Are 360 engines usually tickity or tappety sounding from the manifolds. and any ideas about the gear change problem? is it just the linkages? it will not crunch in any gear and the vehicle drives perfect until i'm rough with my gear change. sometimes it will connect second gear perfectly.

360

Do you drive the car in /out of sport If in sport the revs need to be higher,

ie in low gears the car might be a bit to harsh in changing from 1st - 2nd ect
other thing might be the set up needs changed this car be done @ the dealers.

360 butterfly chatter noise

I also have just bought a 2002 spider and have the same noisy problem with the butterfly's. I went to see Verdi Ferrari in Hayes and they claim they have a fix for this which will smooth this sound. They have designed something to fix the noise. It is a £700 fix though as he said it is £200 part and £500 in labour.

I am interested to hear if other people have had this done though, I was told at a main dealer they would replace the whole lot and it would be somewhere in the region of £3000.

Being that my car came with a full check from Gray Paul Ferrari and a clean bill of health I wonder if i should take this up with them? Is it a serious issue or just an unpleasent noise. Also to add to my issues I have a Tubi and this seems to just intensify the issues...

Anyone have any advice for both of us here?
